First of all I am really late to the party here. I love this movie. I love the original. I read a few reviews that said there was a lot going on but it was enough of each. I know unpopular opinion but highly recommend. 💜

It hasn't stood the test of time well, and it is repetitive and hollow. There is no real connection between any of the characters, and the script is shoddy. There are points where WS and WH show some spark, but it is short-lived

This timeless sports comedy is just as terrific and hilarious as “Slap Shot”. Woody and Wesley are an INCREDIBLE duo. Exciting gameplay, thrilling high-stakes hustling, and some of the most hilarious trash-talking ever put on film.

This movie can be about me and an ex, minus the basketball. Surprisingly this movie teaches some life lessons that apply to everyone.

This is good film. Wesley Snipes gives a good comedic performance and has great chemistry with Woody Harrelson. The only issue the film has is that it is slightly longer than it should be and the owing money to mobsters plot starts to wear thin.

Sharp writing that will catch most off guard.

Compelling view of a playground basketball tradition, with lots of ironic twists. Very funny at times from all three leads. Well directed. The street vernacular is sometimes hard to follow, but doesn't need to be.

Perfect for it's time, roller blade the basketball boardwalk with hustlers Billy Hoyle & Sidney Deane, with the lovely Clemente living out her own dream.

77%. 6/26/23. Cool that it takes place in Venice. Pretty entertaining. Annoying how Woody keeps losing money, especially when he bets Wesley that he can dunk. Like the relationship between the two of them tho. 2.5 on rewatch scale.

Woody Harrelson's "aw shucks" demeanor made this a classic for me growing up. And Rosie Perez? Come on. This pairing by casting was ingenious! Wesley Snipes did okay, although I always wonder who else was in the running for this role. Now onto watching the 2nd one and I'm admittedly fearful. Jack Harlow? We'll see!

A review of White Men Cant Jump (x2): The original White Men Cant Jump is a story about a couple on the run from gangsters they owe $8,000 to. The lass is training to be the greatest ever contestant in trivial pursuit history to win the money that way and the guy is hustling money in basket ball courts. They need to get the cash or be killed. The new one is a story about a high school basketball prodigy who went to jail in his last year of school and gets a chance to play basketball again when he meets a failing druggie hippie health guru who is also good at basketball and they get to play 2v2's together. The first film is 100% conflict and hard decisions and consequences and really made me a bit emotional. Woody harrelson plays an addict perfectly and should have got an oscar. Wesley is a perfect support casting. The second is two asshats becoming friends even though one of them is black and one is white. There is tension, but only because both characters are idiots, not because either are in hard places. Some of the moves, passes, and shots are so silly on a basketball level and it is awesome. I enjoyed this greatly from start to finish. Wesley and Woody were awesome.
