Wild Men Reviews
A far more textured story than its first few minutes would suggest... funny and heartbreaking.

Daneskov and Pape’s "Wild Men" continually surprises in poignancy over and again, even amid the laughs and bloody violence.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 17, 2022
There are gags and moments that work but disappointingly these are few and far between in a movie that promised much but delivered little.
| Original Score: 5/10 | Aug 15, 2022
The ending of the comedy/drama Wild Men is very predictable and requires some suspension of disbelief regarding law enforcement, but this movie is ultimately an entertaining story about two strangers and their unlikely friendship as outlaws.

My mood changed after watching this wonderfully wacky and sincere crime caper/comedy hybrid. The minutes fly nearly as smoothly as the dialogue from the dynamite cast, including a terrific Bjorn Sundquist as the eccentric yet endearing sheriff.

With this examination of life and all its ups and downs combined with great forest scenery and vistas along with a dash of dark humour, you get a watchable film.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Aug 10, 2022
This Danish black comedy is a meandering exploration of masculinity in the 21st century, and though it’s more miss than hit, it’s charming and bittersweetly heartfelt in its bumbling and bungling.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Aug 10, 2022
... Its gentle humour and strong emotions make it easy to like.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Aug 8, 2022
...wild Coen-esque caper comedy ensues. But the pervasive air of sadness from the beginning never quite leaves these simple men.

While Wild Men does have some inventive comedic moments and a very strong lead performance from Bjerg, the film ultimately has very little to say about its own subject.
| Original Score: C | Jul 28, 2022
While the tone of the film toys with the absurd, what it has to say about masculinity, regret, and what it means to belong is anything but.
| Original Score: A- | Jul 28, 2022
Wild Men is a handsome-looking movie with playfully barbed character writing, clever twists, and a forgiving heart.
| Jul 12, 2022
Like the misguided men it follows, its charm is in its disorder.
| Jun 21, 2022
A movie that suggests a dream-team collaboration of Hal Hartley and the Coen Brothers
| Jun 17, 2022
The plot of Wild Men slowly and, then, completely overwhelms the movie's premise and its other, more intriguing intentions.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Jun 17, 2022
Within a familiar examination of aging and masculinity, this offbeat Norwegian comedy manages some deadpan laughs and heartfelt charm.
| Jun 17, 2022
A brainy and highly entertaining adventure.
| Jun 17, 2022
An offbeat story about the quest for masculinity with dry, deadpan humor that will be an acquired taste for many.
| Jun 16, 2022
The need for escape is a commonly explored, essential theme in cinema, and Wild Men draws from that great well.
| Jun 3, 2022
Offbeat midlife crisis comedy.
