Fargo meets Lillehammer with a twist of Tschugger

Nice comedy turning into a drama with magnificent Norwegian landscapes and lots of Nordic dry humour. In a few instances I wished I'd speak a Scandinavian language because I didn't get the jokes when the Danish didn't understand the Norwegians and the other way around.

Before you is an utterly unique blend of craftful storytelling, marvelous scenery, and sheer humor. Just as difficult as Wild Men shows it is to grasp the bittersweet wisdom behind the human condition, so too it is to try and do this artwork justice by any synopsis.

Loved this movie - the plot, actors, the settings, the themes of humanity and family and belonging. An unexpected gem.

(Mauro Lanari) The unresolved drama of "Civilization and Its Discontents" (Freud '29-'30) that the Danish director treats as grotesque, amusing, caricatured, humorous buddy movie. The film dares to let tragedy inexorably take over on the usual dark comedy tone. Impeccable.

I really liked this film, although it has English sub titles all through the movie. The scenery is beautiful and the acting is well executed. It's not really a comedy at all, more of a crime drama mixed in with a unique storyline.

Went in with low expectations; a sub-titled Scandinavian John Candy - type film I thought; slapstick comedy tinged with pathos. Wild Men certainly has those elements, but it has a lot more depth & fully rounded characters than a regular farce, and there are little sprinkles of Cohen brothers or Tarantino - type plot twists adding drama & uncertainty where one might normally expect predictability. The wry, ironic Danish / Norwegian humour is also a treat. It assumes the viewer can spot the ironies on their own, without having everything spelled out in capital letters. Finally, you know you've watched a good movie when you find yourself caring about what happens to the characters by the end, however improbable their journey.

Ein echt herrlicher Film, mit Humor, eine Schwarze Komödie. Die Dialoge haben es in sich, die Schauspieler geben ihr Bestes, die Norwegische Landschaft fabelhaft. Eine einsatzbereite und Tapfere Polizei. Nicht zu vergessen den Polizeihund der aber heute leider frei hat.
