Witch Hunt Reviews
The reason why I like this movie is because of the witches and the love that they have for each other that’s why I think there should be a second movie
Modern-day America. Witchcraft is illegal and punished with death penalty. A family runs a safehouse for prosecuted witches, helping them to escape across the border. The routine of this peculiar family changes when they give asylum to two young witches. "Witch Hunt" is a metaphor for the intolerance observed in today's America, in particular the radical nationalism that refuses to accept a diverse and multicultural society. A great idea but a mediocre execution!
That was an hour and a half of my life wholly wasted that I will never get back. I kept waiting for something or some plot to form, but nope, it never happens in this terrible film. I mean the premise is intriguing, but the writing is terrible.
Witch Hunt is a stab at all governments all throughout the world that explains exactly what's going on in the world. Symbolically it's very rich the first half of the story was extremely promising but late in the movie the plot was seemed to be stuck, the nature of smuggling arrangement was out the window like it never was. Therefore the story could have done better without such minor gaps. Visuals were amazing the dusty desert colour scheme and special effects were perfect. Great audio effects too. Sincere performances by the cast. Story was well written, touching and creative it definitely worth a watch.
Ok so this movie is not what I thought it was going to be. I really enjoyed this one. So it is not really scary if that is what you are looking for in a movie like this but more interesting and thought provoking. Love Elizabeth Mitchell in everything she does. I think this movie does just the job it was intended to do. Good movie - good plot. It is worth the watch!!
Witch Hunt (2022) has a cool premise, an alt history where witchcraft is real and persecuted in the USA leading to an underground railroad to get young witches to freedom south of the boarder. Sadly the core plot is rolled out slow and bland. This concept should work and their are brief flashes involving side characters and witch hunters that only serve to illustrate how dull the main character is. 2 stars out of 5.
It started out strong. It moved through as a powerful story. Showed the injustice. However the final part of the movie was a huge let down. No conclusion. It just stopped. Just stopped. Didn't wrap up. It just stopped.
Functional and just watchable. I really liked the idea of an underground railroad for witches where they are neither malevolent nor overly good and could be a next-door neighbor with unusual abilities. That premise propped up what would have been an otherwise very average supernatural film. The transparent comparison of our immigration issues and policies didn't go unnoticed.
Clever, relevant and disturbing though ultimately less than it could have been I still recommend it.
Witch Hunt 2021 (not to be confused for the superior HBO movie of the same name starring Dennis Hopper) is a mopey and angsty teen of a movie thinking it is saying something profound and important. All the while, that state is muddled and half-baked and overall any kind of 'political' statement attempting lessens an already weak film. The concept that witches are such a threat to United States theirs an 11th amendment to basically "suffer not the witch to live" might be workable. However, the movie is not interested in world building that idea nearly enough for the audience to buy-in. Sure, there are witches that are said to murder people with their powers, but so do serial killers, and they seem to still get due process while the former don't. Ultimately, Witch Hunt 2021 isn't a horror movie. There are brief scenes suggesting supernatural horror, but they habitually line step well over the boundary between tense and boring. Often for little to no pay off, as the movie does enjoy its attempts at fake-out scares. Anyone seeking this movie for thrills and chills are going to leave unsatisfied.
