The Witches of Eastwick Reviews
It was everything. A little bit of female friendship, love and magic, and A LOT OF CRAZY. Weirdly sweet ending.
Brilliant in every way
Once again, Jack Nicholson was destined to portray the major part of a devil in this movie. And he is a special effect; he needs none! Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer all gave outstanding performances. John Williams captures it all in this film with his score.
Nothing is sexy or appealing about Jack Nicholson in this movie. Alex's (Cher) vocal opinion of him at the start of the film (before she then kisses him!) stays with you till the end. An old, over-weight, sweaty character that reminds me more of Yo Samity Sam than a ‘horny little devil'. This film has not aged well.
Witches of Eastwick is a interesting supernatural comedy starring the incomparable Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon and Jack Nicholson. It is a zany look at three women in New England who fall in love with a man who has a very dark secret. Jack Nicholson is pure electricity as the seductive lover. Recommended
A fantastic goofy dark comedy with the Great Jack Nicholson as the devil himself seducing 3 women who are actual witches.
Love this movie. Love the performances.
Really awesome occult witchy movie with an all star cast. Susan Sarandon, Cher. Farrah Faucet, jack Nickelson. I can't spell names but a must see in you lifetime!
Blobbo surprised by low rating. Nicholson at his Nicholsonian best!
The story is good but standard. There are character issues, the romance doesn't work very well. But that might not have been the point. The biggest issue it's one of those movie that you think it's about to end then it keeps going. And it keeps going and going and going. It finally reaches the climax but it feels like there was three other places it could have ended. It's not perfect but it is pretty good. Plus, it's the rare 80s movie that doesn't really earn the R rating.
Not the least bit convincing.
Jack Nicholson quotes trying to be a master piece of shakespeare. bah, rotten. Totattly predictable story, a bad wolf seducing the three little pings. rotten. i had to make a effert to keep watching. in the beggining The movie is trying to make Jack Nicholson desirable. Never. hard to watch. his expiry date was way pass. maybe with another actor i could belive it.
I'm a big JN fan, but this was a real dog. Time for Jack to admit that old age catches up to even the best of us.
Criminally underrated movie!
If you know what the Witches of Eastwick was supposed to be about, or was supposed to say, then you're smarter than me. I remained confused through the movie as to whether or not it's a comedy (it's not that funny), a drama (it's not that emotional), a horror (it actually is kind of freaky at the end, in a goofy kind of way), or an art piece. Either way, it needed to pick one and stick with it. Also it needed a lead character. Having the trio of Cher, Sarandan, and Pfeiffer muddled the story.
This movie is so bad. It had old fashioned misogynistic ideas in it, all the characters were one dimensional and made unbelievable decisions.
That stunt with the cyclist flipping over the barrier was insane. Looked as though they almost got wiped out.
well I thought it was like one of those books you cannot put down because you don't know what's over the next page. Anyhow I enjoyed it - can be gross at times but guess that is part of the story it tells.
Cher, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jack Nicholson -- you can't go wrong with a cast like this! <3
