Wrongfully Accused Reviews
as good as spy hard was funny yet dumb
Let me preface that I love dumb humor for the most part. This one absolutely had as many good laughs and bad jokes. Worth a watch for sure for Leslie fans!
“Don't move. I've got a gun. Not here, but I got one.” While the quips are silly most of the time, they are delivered in such an ingenious manner that makes it hard for one not to laugh. Wrongfully Accused also includes a few parodies, most notably of the famous cornfield scene from the similarly-plotted North by Northwest, and the famous “flying” scene from Titanic.
It's one of the great mysteries of my movie-going existence how movies so similar can be do drastically different in quality. This movie is basically THE NAKED GUN with a different plot. Same lead actor, same type of over-the-top comedy, often amazingly similar sight gags... So how can THE NAKED GUN be a comic masterpiece while this is often painfully unfunny? I suppose it's all about catching lightning in a bottle. If I were to venture a hypothesis, I think movies like this try too hard to make the jokes work, while movies like the aforementioned NAKED GUN and most certainly AIRPLANE!... well, it just seem to flow like a well-oiled machine. Nielsen is a master at the genre, and the moments that do work here are mostly due to him, although there are scenes where he is trying way too hard. I did catch myself laughing out loud from time to time (a bit involving a muted 온라인카지노추천 particularly caught my fancy for some reason), but I found myself groaning, or stone faced, for most of the proceedings. Crenna is a wonderful, wonderful actor but he should never be allowed to do this type of movie again. I suppose the one good thing about this movie is that it makes me long to grab my DVD of THE NAKED GUN and watch it for the kajillionth time.
I wouldn't give Leslie Neilson less than 2 stars but he couldn't save this rip off of his other satirical comedies and minus the genius of the Zuckers and Abraham. Leslie does his usual with the material given but to no avail.
Plenty of laughs in this Leslie Nielsen film with parodies of films like mission impossible, brave heart and the fugitive. If you're looking for a laugh this is your film.
Saw this in theaters and now watch it at least six times a year. Any haters don't know true comedy… I'm as sure as that as I am that that's an anaconda.
This film is just terrible. It has elements that could be funny just as in Naked Gun or Airplane! but fails miserably with the writing & punchlines. In those films, even the stupid or silly jokes hit home. In "Wrongfully Accused", I couldn't find anything that could inspire a chuckle, much less a laugh. This film really needed Zucker & Abrahams instead of the terrible writers for this movie.
This was my favourite movie as a kid. Look at any one of the clips on YouTube and you'll see there's a joke almost in every single shot Airplane spoof style. I get older adults thinking its tired but of course when I was 5 years old seeing it for the first time I thought it was fresh even though I probably missed a lot of the jokes. If this movie were released today it'd probably get 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. Perhaps I'll see if it holds up since its almost entirely references, it should fit in with today's culture.
Naked gun fans may have some fun. I didn't.
Leslie Nielson is the only reason you'll be viewing this film. Pat Proft has been a writer of these slapstick films and I had been interested to see Wrongfully Accused again. Sadly Wrongfully Accused lacks the skills of Zucker and Abrahams. The film attempts a joke every minute and the success of these varies. The overall storyline can't withstand the length and the rapid succession of attempted jokes will test your patience. Nielson is great in the role and he clearly had the talent for these satire films. Proft staged the film quite well but not having a filmmaker to push the storyline, it's obvious the jokes were excessive. I enjoyed this film when it was first released but it isn't a great film and the jokes will mainly appeal to the easily pleased. 14/06/2020
Parody of The Fugitive, and other movies. Lots of gags and jokes, many rather humorous, but many that fall flat. The music was good. Leslie is always fun.
In contrast to the "critic" reviews, I consider this Leslie Nielsen's best movie, with the runners-up being the three Naked Gun movies and Airplane, and all the others being so bad they're not worth mentioning. The opening sequence in Wrongfully Accused is one of the best executed I've seen, with a combination of good orchestral music and visual gags to go along with it. Like every slapstick movie, including those other four, there are certainly a fair number of jokes that won't make you laugh, but this and the other four of Leslie Nielsen's best are a world above what has passed for slapstick parody since, such as the mind-numbingly awful flicks from the Wayan brothers (e.g., Scary Movie series) and equally awful fare like Not Another Teen Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, etc. Considering how bad their scripts are, the only explanation I have for some (if not all) of those movies being more successful financially is that they appear to have had bigger and better marketing campaigns behind them.
Leslie Nielsen is clearly dedicated to his performance but it doesn't save a thin script loaded to the brim with an onslaught of slapstick, innuendo and pop culture references. The best jokes are in the last 20 minutes.
It's not a patch on the Naked Gun series but has its moments! Leslie Nielsen is as beautifully deadpan as ever.
Leslie Nielsen's Naked Gun films certainly had their ups and downs, but always had enough laughs to make them worthwhile. Wrongfully Accused tries to recapture that formula, but bumbles along and falls flat on its face. The script and jokes are pretty uninspired, even compared to previous Leslie Nielsen outings.
THE BEST HANDS DOWN COMEDY!!!
Minnesotans will like this movie, if just for the many references to our state alone. Citizens of the town of Columbia Heights, MN will like it even more. There's not much for the rest of the country. It's a average parody.
