The X-Files Reviews

Apr 12, 2025

As a non show fan, take my review with a grain of salt. This was incredibly boring... lots of weird little tails to chase, nonsensical plot points and tropes, all leading to a lamo goofy alien plot to destroy the world again. Seems this IP really does belong on television.

Incredible. Watch series 1 to 5 and then this one is all you need. This movie brings the whole plot to an incredible conclusion. Masterclass in how to wrap a series up with a bang. Shame they went on for more series and a terrible second movie. My advice is to stop watching after this movie and be satisfied.

A Sci-Fi Thriller That Still Holds Up! As a longtime fan of The X-Files, I was eager to see how the show’s signature blend of mystery, government conspiracy, and extraterrestrial intrigue would translate to the big screen. Fight the Future (1998) did not disappoint. This film expands on the series’ overarching mythology, offering a thrilling, cinematic experience while maintaining the eerie, paranoia-fueled atmosphere that made the show a cult classic. The movie follows FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) as they uncover a government cover-up involving an extraterrestrial virus buried deep in the Arctic. The pacing is sharp, the tension is palpable, and the stakes are higher than ever. While the film is accessible to newcomers, longtime fans will appreciate the deeper dive into the show’s lore, particularly the ever-present question: What is the government hiding from us? Beyond the storytelling, Fight the Future taps into real-world scientific questions that continue to fascinate astronomers and researchers. The idea of extraterrestrial microbes—a concept central to the film—has become an increasingly plausible topic in astrobiology, with scientists searching for evidence of life in places like Mars, Europa, and Enceladus. Could life beyond Earth exist in forms we have yet to comprehend? And if so, would we be prepared to deal with it? The movie plays on these anxieties brilliantly, mixing speculative science with conspiracy-driven suspense. For anyone who enjoys sci-fi thrillers, government conspiracies, or the eternal question of “Are we alone?”, The X-Files: Fight the Future is a must-watch. As an amateur astronomer, I appreciate how the film sparks curiosity about the unknown, making us look up at the night sky and wonder what’s the truth that is out there. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Vincent Kleijn

This film shouldn't have worked. For one, it's a film based on a 온라인카지노추천 show and those almost never work. It might be the best film based on a 온라인카지노추천 show since "In the Heat of the Night." There's also major plot holes. One such plot hole is why are there bodies left over from an explosion that are so perfectly preserved? Wasn't the point of the explosion to get rid of said bodies, and aren't they basically turning to jelly? Yet, there they are in a morgue? That's just one example. Then there's the dialogue which is at best faltering at times. Yet, this film is a riveting and fun ride. This is mostly due to the chemistry between Mulder and Scully created by the great performances by the actors who play them. Then there's the captivating plot and the great cinematography. This bad script works because it's such a well made movie with such great acting. It's beyond good, it's a classic. Watch it once, and it will become a rewatchable you'll go back to every couple of years.

The X-Files movie was an entertaining 'fillin' between series 5 and 6 of the equally entertaining series... yes, if you're only just getting to watch the X-Files, you need to watch this movie after the 5th series before watching the 6th series. The usual strong performances from Duchovny and Andersen shore up a pretty intriguing storyline.

An excellent big screen adaptation of the Classic 온라인카지노추천 series. Now surely we can accept a couple things going in. The X-Files film is both a film and an episode. IT has to be. The film has excellent writing, acting set pieces and tone. It still initiates the un-initiated however it is the best for hard core fans.

X-files was one of those shows growing up where I thought the world was large and amazing, scary and mysterious. Watching the series now and seeing the way the show was constructed, episodes in the early seasons so scattered apart and sometimes horribly edited which is ashamed for such a loveable show. When X- Files does start getting its footing and the stories find there way into a continuous arc that has a streamline structure that the audience doesn't have to struggle to piece together and items, substances and moments are finally explained and defined, the show finds its heart and its beat. There are some legendary episodes that work as a stand alone in many ways, and the Mulder search for his sister, and the search for Mulder are the main chapters in how I see the X-files stories. The last two final seasons are more an epilogue with again, some wonderful standalone episodes and the main arc of Mulder, with the aliens and all that comes with that burden. I will say the Skully leadership arcs are some of the better episodes and as much as Mulder is great, Skully equally if not more so carries and is why the X-Files works. Without X-Files we wouldn't have Supernatural, and with that said after seeing both series, Supernatural does win for a more consistent show with a better consistent storyline. X-Files will always be a classic worth binging and sharing.

More of a long episode than a motion picture, The X-Files would have benefitted from a second pair of eyes when it comes to the script. Even though I am a fan of the series this seems like a missed opportunity to utilize the film format to tell a story the tv-series can't.

X-Files at its peak with a global-trotting plot and a soundtrack for the ages

Underrated. Hands down one the best t.v. show to movie screen transitions.

As a huge fan of the show, this movie was beyond amazing not only for the continuation of the show, but also for people who have never seen the show. They expertly catch the audience up with the main storyline without disrespecting long term fans and it incredibly fast paced and enthralling with fantastic characters and amazing directing. This deserves to be much more highly regarded in terms of science fiction films.

Watched this years back and even though I wasn't an avid fan of the show it was still a compelling watch with two excellent leads Main cast members David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson star in the first full-length feature as agents Mulder and Scully exposing mysterious truths involving extra-terrestrials by creator Chris Carter The latest mission involves the FBI trying to stop a terrorist bombing in Texas with FEMA plotting to overthrow everything But there's more to it than just dirty bombs as Mulder finds more clues possibly associated with alien life making humans mindless drones involving the Syndicate There's also utilization of honey bees tied to a mysterious black oil that has been around since the caveman days, one small boy in a Texas town becomes infected like a caveman did 37,00 years ago A possible alien virus that was covered up leads Mulder and Scully to find out more than they're ready to face The film manages to build a smart conspiracy to keep viewers interested involving spontaneous repopulation, colonization, and biological warfare One alone cannot fight the future.... Even if you're not a fan of the show you'll still find yourself compelled to want to see what happens next (it's what the series excelled at) There's plenty of real world allusions from the Oklahoma City bombing to the fear of Africanized bees, plus the fact that America's views have changed being sensitive to real-life tragedies being the influence for films like this There's a way to do it carefully then there's just poor taste Director Rob Bowman manages to make 'Fight the Future' accessible enough with some interesting ideas Contains enough suspicion, action, partnership, loyalty to keep things moving with the right amount of paranoia as well as rationale One of the better tv adaptations!

Perfect story and the best example how to make the movie based on a 온라인카지노추천 show. Still watch it every couple years.

I like that they made another movie because it makes this one look better. Though I still don’t get why an FBI agent lets himself blow up to hide a conspiracy. Or why some villains like the Armin Mueller-Stahl one we never ever see again in the X-Files.

Rewatched this film after a very long time! I loved X-Files on 온라인카지노추천, but none of the films "wowed" me - Here they are just running around: Little story, little action, weak dialogue and thus overall a very weak film! Should be send to Mars (no return-ticket)!

I was always a fan of the X-Files television show and while it may have not been the best show around, it certainly kept my attention as a kid and watching several episodes as an adult it did have some good episodes. So, television and film are two totally different hurdles and making a show into a feature length film usually doesn't work that well but "X-Files: Fight the Future" works for what it sets out to do. By this I mean it is like a longer episode of the show and encompasses several characters we recognize from the series and their backgrounds are all put into this bigger vision of the same ideals. If you are/were a fan of the television series than you will probably appreciate this film but if you didn't like or were interested than pass on this as well. While not a great film for many reasons, I still enjoyed it with these expectations in mind.
