Hilarious feel good movie I love Jim Carrey in this!!

Definitely an underrated comedy. Jim Carrey hasn't always had success toning down his energy, but this time around he plays it really well with a believable character in a script that's pretty funny. Truth be told I DON'T believe him and Zoey Deschanel together, but the story's pretty great and deserves at least 1 watch.

This film has a strong, interesting message. Yes, it's got the usual Jim Carrey goofiness, but it's not only entertaining but leaves you feeling better and more inspired than when you started.

I really liked it. Fun and original plot. Perfect role for Jim Carrey.

There are some good teachings about how to build healthy boundaries in life; knowing how to pick your battles, when to say yes or no.

is a fun comedy starring Jim as a man who decides to say "yes" to everything, transforming his dull life into a series of wild adventures. While predictable at times, Jim's energy and the film’s uplifting message make it an enjoyable watch.

I know a lot of people criticized this as just another wacky Jim Carrey movie, but it was so much more than that. The premise was interesting, the story was light and amusing, and the acting was surprisingly good. (Can't say that about too many of his comedies). There were some of the familiar Carrey antics we've come to know and love, but it was used sparingly and never felt too over-the-top. I also found the overall message to be quite relevant and inspiring. About taking chances, because you never know what good things you might be missing out on. I thought Jim and Zooey had decent chemistry together, which made the unlikely romance all the more touching. Just a heartfelt romantic comedy that deserves more praise than it gets.

On the roller coaster ride of Jim Carrey's career, when it comes to his "wacky" comedies, I'm afraid this one falls closer to the cinematic atrocities that are the ACE VENTURA movies than the comic highlights of DUMB AND DUMBER or LIAR LIAR. Although Carrey excels here in a couple laugh out loud funny physical bits, overall I felt a strain to his performance, like he was almost trying too hard to be funny (and for Carrey, that's saying a lot). And I didn't feel a lot of joy from him here - I got a definite "time to make the donuts" vibe. The biggest problem with the whole movie is that the central conceit just isn't all that funny and quickly becomes monotonous. Movies like GROUNDHOG DAY have proven that repetition does not necessarily equate with monotony, but the script here is not good enough to sustain interest. I've never quite caught on to the charms of Deschanel - I admittedly am not familiar with most of her stuff - but she and Carrey are kind of a dud as a couple, and I didn't feel any connection or chemistry between them. It's interesting to see Cooper only a few years away from taking the movie world by storm, but it's a nothing role. The whole thing feels like a movie Adam Sandler would have rejected.

Finally, this is where Jim Carrey belongs! Another one of my favorite films of 2008 Here he plays a man named Carl who sadly just got out of a relationship so he's lost his zest for life based on the memoir by British author Danny Wallace He also works at a dead end job and doesn't hang with his friends Then one day he's asked by someone to attend a seminar with the philosophy of the word yes Now Carl has to say yes to every opportunity that presents itself no matter how unusual it is, who knows it might lead to potential happiness and unexpected results Most notably he strikes up a romance with photographer Alison He also realizes saying no just leads to bad stuff I was definitely laughing at so many of the jokes, Carrey is back to his comedy roots, and I really like the romance angle with Zooey Deschanel The music is really stellar with several songs by Eels as well as Deschanel herself and much of the supporting cast works so splendidly from Bradley Cooper to John Michael Higgins to Sasha Alexander to Terence Stamp Although one does have to wonder at some point you can say no if you want to to certain things, you don't have to say yes unless you really want to, whether you say yes or no certain things can happen good or bad, we don't change our lives around we end up alone, the worlds a giant playground somewhere along the way everyone forgets, sooner or later we have to stop making excuses avoiding life No doubt the film is predictable and we’ve seen stuff like this before but Carrey is full committed to the material making these characters very endearing It’s far better than the self-serious stuff that wasn’t working with him before and Peyton Reed makes this such a lovable comedy making a good excuse to let go of life’s woes and laugh
