Yossi & Jagger Reviews
Given what is currently available in this genre ...this movie is AWFUL by comparison!!! Boring and meaningless dialogue, uninteresting characters, poor production values and terrible acting. Are we supposed to believe they are in a war zone? ...seems more like a paintball park. Perhaps this passed as "good" 20 years ago, but this has to be one of the worst films I viewed. The only thing more shocking than the praise given to this film; is that they made a sequel. NO THANKS!!
Like the short-lived intimacy shared in the snow, the love story of two Israeli soldiers is so briefly told and underdeveloped that it feels hurried and emotionally hollow.
Extremely beautiful movie! I much prefer a happy ending but the sad ones usually end up being the most memorable.
An intimate portrayal of 2 soldiers in the Israeli army who conduct a secret affair whilst posted in a remote defence unit on the Lebanese border. In a sparse hour and 5 minute running time, the film crams in a great deal of conflict, but you can't help feeling that a bit too much was trimmed away and another half hour would have built more stakes and added the empathy lacking in the climax. Great performances and writing. It just needed a little more to it.
the last fifteen/twenty minutes of this Israeli film elevated it from what would've been just another average, "made-for-easy-viewing" movie to something a lil more than that. the irony in that last scene'd hit you, and i liked how it ended. the bittersweet always hits harder than just plain 'sweet',no? ??????
Feels more like an extended short rather than a fully realized film, but manages to develop characters that we care about better than most movies
Even though it's short, but Yossi and Jagger has a fresh, fast pace and good romance between the two leads coming from Israel. 7.5/10
This Israeli film has got all the love and charms you need to feel good when you are down. Set in the Isreali Defense Force, you've got two soldiers that are closeted homosexuals that cannot express their love to each other, on top of this, the hardship of war made their situation even tougher. It's a cute independent drama that features adequate acting and a bitter sweet ending.
Cariño expresado bajo las mayores represiones militares. No por la disciplina, si no por el riesgo en el campo de batalla. En realidad muestra una sociedad israelà muy de avanzada en el tema, para ser una cultura tan conservadora.
This one doesn't really work for me. It looks a bit corny. There is no sub-plot. Too straight forward.
It is odd and captured honest. It could use a little bit more polishing up, but the story shined through, especially right at the end.
Short on hyperbole and runtime, 'Yossi and Jagger' is a parable to affections in wartime, where time is short and neither love nor life assured.
