You Won't Be Alone Reviews
If you want an easy film, this isn't it. A Macedonian-Language feature with very little dialogue, it is really well-acted, but tough to follow. Honestly, I didn't get it. Perhaps you have to be really high. I wanted to like how the viewer has to figure a lot out, but this was a touch too much. There are quite a few parallels to the modern day and when you think about what the film could mean it gives you pause. There's a certain fear of the other which most certainly fits in with current times. Some of the most unsexual nude and sex scenes you'll ever see. There is a certain repulsion and also sympathy for the lead character Nevena who is played by several different people based on what age she is and the form she is taking. Fascinating, but not my bag! Worth seeing! Final Score: 4.4/10
Beautifully shot, instigating concept of living many lives (including that of a dog) to really understand the world after being isolated early in life, yet the whole concept was like a cultural mismatch - not sure if someone in the Balkans could relate more easily.
Great experimental folklore body horror movie. Poetic!
I see why some people liked it, but not for me. I like the originality of how it was made with very little dialogue and simplicity, but just not enjoyable to me, and hard to follow especially in the other language.
Every time I read a review somewhere in the past about something that said "this is hauntingly beautiful" … well, it never was! But this movie, now this is hauntingly beautiful and now I can say it. It’s ethereal and poignant. This movie has no flaws. My cousin Mia recommended this film knowing I would deeply adore it and I did. - Esna
Incredibly beautiful and horrifying. The acting is top notch, reminding me of poor things if you’d like our house and beautiful cinematography this is for you.
I’m someone who absolutely can NOT stand to see babies harmed/killed and although there are a few scenes where the babies/children were hurt they all ultimately survive and because of that I was able to enjoy the movie thoroughly. It’s very good, very unlike anything else. 100 percent I recommend!
This film feels singular or at least very rare in how it tells a story. The violence and beauty of nature and society meet with every scene of this film. Whether a witch is drinking blood or a husband beating his wife, the same mix of unease and quiet acceptance settles over you. The messages and themes feel so innate and familiar that putting them into words is difficult.
I was transported to the original world of Grimm's Brothers folk tales with all of it's violence and horror before such stories became sanitized and Disneyfied. I was literally in another era.
I thought it would be interesting folk horror cinema. Instead it was repetitive pretentious fantasy art. I'd suggest recommend it to your wiccan friends, but they may expect more humor.
A really good movie and finally someone has come up with a different take on witches. Although a little too long it's still a very well made movie. Tim Treakle
Blood-drenched contemplation.
Although original, this movie was painful to get through. The dialogue is clunky and boring. The maiden is bitter and one dimensional.
A film I wouldn't prefer in any other presentation. It's eerie, it's mystic, and more than perhaps any other film or series with witches that I've seen, deeply human. I feel it's tricky to not oversell it, because it's definitely not a film that everyone will enjoy. If you feel like the different and alien is something you want to explore, to dive headfirst into and see much like you first exlpore and learn of the fascinating depths of the ocean, with all of its beauty and horror, the perhaps this is a film for you. I don't mean to sound pretentious, I just have a hard time capturing the essence of this film in other words. I loved it.
This movie was unbelievably original. I have never seen anything like it and both my roommate and I didn't touch our phones once while watching (which is rare for us). It is clearly a passion project, something done with such care with such subtle and beautiful moments. The acting was unbelievable, I truly believed I was watching the same character in different forms. Both my roommate and I audibly said "that is so beautiful" multiple times. Loved it and couldn't recommend it more for folk horror buffs.
It's artsy so that might not be everyone's cup of tea. Beautiful scenery, poetic script, search for meaning, love and placement in life.
The movie follows a single evolving thought in an engaging plot. anything more would be spoiling it. no phones allowed while watching. watch only if u can obey to this rule.
Mediocre, boring and predictable. It's just the old "life and love is awesome" formula. Watch Spring 2014 instead, way better.
SO SO SO GOOD ‼️‼️ u gotta stick w it trust 🙏🙏🙏
