Young Guns Reviews
Very entertaining western. Emilio Estevez shines in this one (He also the hockey coach in Mighty Ducks). The ending was good the fight scenes were good. I don't really have much to complain about so if you're looking for a pretty good western, I think this will satisfy.
Mostly watched it on account of the soundtrack, which was awesome. Really well done, not too serious and surely not shallow. Lots of memorable one liners. Great photography and scenery. Very entertaining and exciting enough
Great Wild West Popcorn Movie Fun! The paid critic prove once again they make too much.
Underrated movie. I wish that more people would see this movie based on a real story, but most people think of it as some poorly made western movie.
AMAZING CAST!!!! This could've been a better movie had it NOT been a western film. These actors were NOT meant to be cowboys and it shows. If it were a different film it would totally rock, but not a cowboy movie. It's too unrealistic because they all look like male models and pretty boys. This would've been an awesome male stripper film/comedy/drama ALL of these guys are handsome and young. That's pretty much it!
Full of 1980's corniness, if you're in the mood for some vacant entertainment with a little bit of nostalgia, Young Guns is great for those last 2 beers after midnight on a Friday night.
One of my favorite western films. Excellent cast! Great Story! Great Ending! A film I can watch over and over again.
Just watched it again on 4k blu-ray and WOW is it better than I remembered. Probably because it got overshadowed in my brainpan by its successor Young Guns 2 with its awesome soundtrack. Highly recommended (especially on 4k blu-ray)!
An eighties western classic.
Emilio Estevez as BillyThe Kid is part psychopath and part hyena, laughing hysterically as he guns people down. He seeks vengeance for the murder of a man he barely knows, not that he needs an excuse to kill people, but he continuously puts his own life in danger because he's adventurous, I guess. Following him is a great cast of young actors, but it's not really clear why they follow him, as they would be much better off seeking their vengeance without Billy. Charlie Sheen plays the ultimate voice of reason for the group. Who saw that coming? Jack Palance plays our ultimate bad guy. An Irish gangster/cow barron without the slightest attempt at an Irish accent. It's basically the same character he played the following year in Batman. When he calls out for his sex slave "China" I half expect him to accidentally call out "Sugar Bumps." The best part of the film is the score. It's so fantastically cheesy 80's, and set against the old west, it is weird and wonderful. Not the best film overall, but a great cast, and really fun to watch!
A favorite! I still know every line in this movie.
The cast was amazing but the characters they played were pretty boring and the story didn't keep my interest for too long. It had its moments though
I like this more than Tombstone. Granted, Kilmer & Russell were awesome in that movie, but the Regulators are perfect in this role. Even supporting roles like Chavez & Dirty Steve are legendary. Completely love this movie.
Great actors giving great performances. Emilio Estez is having an absolute blast portraying the psychopathic but charming Billy the Kid. Charlie Shee, Kiefer Sutherland and Jack Palance all are also having great fun. Good action with horses chases, stunts and gun fights, in other words, everything you'd expect from a Western from the 80s. It's made more interesting when you consider tht Estez and Cheen are actually brothers. Adds a layer to the performance. I'm surprised it's not higher rated, it's not Shakespeare, but it does exactly what it sets out to do. A fun action 80s flick that's merged with a old Western. I found it to be a lot of fun.
One of the best 80s westerns. The mullets are supreme & a great cast brings Billy the Kid back to the silver screen once more. REGULATORS…. MOUNT UP!
Dumb and contrived, the attempts at dramatic moments and importance just left me feeling tired.
Great movie, great cast, love it!!!!!
This is a pretty fast paced action/Western film with some decent performances, most notably that of Lou Diamond Philips. I enjoyed the confrontations and the plot in general. Its perhaps not entirely memorable but its certainly entertaining while its on screen. The characters are fairly likeable. Its fairly violent but not overly gratuitously so. If your a fan of the main cast, then I'd recommend it, yes.
To me this movie is a must see for those into western movies. The storyline is not spectacular, but in a way the west was not spectacular in the first place. It shows you cockyness of billy, the desperation, and recklessness from a young posse with great characters.
