I've read so many good things about this and yet I was surprised by how much I liked it. My new fav Beauty and the Beast. Melissa is perfect as always, btw I'm obsessed with her songs here. My Stranger and A Sonf for You are really great, is so bad they didn't include it on the soundtrack

Beauty and the Beast + Black Swan = Your Monster and this is an unusual approach to the interpretation of schizophrenia P.S. Jacob reminded me of Juan Gonzalez (YouTuber) throughout the entire film

Your Monster (2024) Disappointing Conclusion (11,612 – 13 Apr 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) When the actress Laura Franco (Melissa Barrera) is submitted to a surgery of cancer, the boyfriend Jacob Sullivan (Edmund Donovan) breaks up with her. Jacob is a famous theater director that has lived with Laura for five years and written a play with her for her. When Laura leaves the hospital, she stays a couple of days at the house of her friend Mazie Silverberg (Kayla Foster). When she returns home, she finds a Monster (Tommy Dewey) living in her home. She befriends the Monster and participates in the audition for Jacob’s play. However, for the lead role written for her, the famous actress Jackie Dennon (Meghann Fahy) by Jacob and his partner Don McBride (Ikechukwu Ufomadu). The passive Laura outbursts and takes an ultimate attitude. “Your Monster” (2024) is a good movie with disappointing conclusion. The idea of a passive woman meeting a monster that has always lived with her in the closet after being dumped by her beloved boyfriend is an interesting metaphor. The monster seduces her and, in the end, she takes an attitude against Jacob Sullivan that is neither funny nor a worthwhile message. The musical is only recommended for fans of the genre. My vote is sex. Title (Brazil): “Your Monster” My Blog: https://maniacosporfilme.wordpress.com/

I just watched the movie. This makes it my 5th movie of Melissa Barrera that ive seen so far. If she goes on like this she could be my favorite actress in the future haha. I did not understand the ending of this movie though so i typed on youtube for the explanation what i could understand is that the monster might not be real and that is all in her head but i also saw her eyes get darker so what did that mean ? I definitely would like to see a part 2 of this.

Absolutely unbelievably great. Incredibly creative and unique. The 2 leads r breathtakingly good. What a smart, surprising, moving, and beautiful film.

Good elements were there, but the lead performance teetered on grating. I can’t tell if it was the writing or the directing, but the surrealism wasn’t played up enough & there’s a clash in the films tone because of it.

Caroline Lindy wrote and directed this romantic comedy movie, which is based on her short film. Featuring my favorite talented Melissa Barrera, among others. Laura (Melissa) is abandoned in the hospital after cancer surgery by her unfaithful partner, who had lived with her for five years while they wrote stage dramas. Laura returns home and discovers a monster hidden in her wardrobe closet, who initially threatens her to leave the house but later soothes her after realizing her desperate situation. Laura attends an audition for a part exclusively written for her in the past without her boyfriend's knowledge. However, another actress is auditioned and chosen for the role. Honestly, I'm not a fan of musical films. However, I make certain exceptions when it comes to animated films and my favorite actresses or actors. I had planned to see this movie for a long time, but I'm not sure why I kept forgetting. The film has some musical elements and is boosted up by Caroline Lindy's outstanding direction and Melissa's superb performance. The film makes excellent use of psychological theme, so you will enjoy romance, comedy, psychological elements, and suspense.

It was fun but I'm so sorry but the ending just stressed me out more than anything. Is she going to jail?

A delightful genre blend that sticks with you long after the closing sequence.

I liked it. I had the suspension of disbelief throughout. She is great as well as Monster and the rest of the cast.

This movie scored a 5.2 on IMDB which is why the Tomatometer is my go to for movie reviews. Wonderful acting, great music, and a neat twist on a familiar tale.

From this point forward, Laura’s journey is tumultuous as she grapples with her profound “feminine rage,” a powerful emotion reflecting her struggles with internal discord and external pressures. “Monster” can almost be seen as a poignant symbol of this rage; it resides locked away in the closet, representing the feelings she feels compelled to suppress, unable to find a safe outlet for the emotions. Laura’s unresolved issues with Jacob loom large as she faces the daunting task of articulating the deep hurt he has caused her. In various moments throughout the story, she attempts to communicate the pain from their past interactions, showcasing her desire for closure and understanding, with him disregarding her at all costs. Simultaneously, Monster operates in the background, urging Laura to muster the courage to confront Jacob and herself. He is an internal catalyst for change, pushing her to embrace her emotions and reclaim her voice. This journey is not merely about finding the right words to express her turmoil; it’s also about an essential and transformative process of self-love and acceptance. As the narrative unfolds, it becomes clear that this film extends beyond the theme of speaking one’s truth — it ventures into the vital territory of learning to love oneself in the face of adversity and emotional upheaval. I loved this! I hadn't heard of this and didn't know what to expect. It was funny, sweet, and dark. The music and singing is great.

This movie spoke to me. It was a nice reminder to embrace the monster in me.

Was an ok film until the very violent ending. Why does hokeywood demand such comedies have such bloody violence? It would have been better with a different less violent ending.

While, at times, it isn’t the most entertaining film one could be watching—the overall premise is pretty fresh and unique in regard to how the romance develops and the dynamic between the two lovers. It’s relatable and enjoyable, but it might not be your favorite movie of all time. Nonetheless, worth a watch. And without spoiling it, I will say that the ending was satisfying to me, which matters.

Creative but kind of a soap opera, will appeal to some but not to others.
