Ohhh she got Home Alone training from her cult upbringing, right of course. Cool. I don't understand why so many people like this movie. It has (I guess?) a couple fun moments but it doesn't really go anywhere or do anything or establish even remotely interesting characters or story. The incessant shaky cam is annoying and much of the acting is bad. The score is a non cohesive Carpenter impression. Anyone who made this movie needs to go watch The Strangers and report back.

Good horror flick. Story was too predictable, Nothing scary. Lots of blood and ingenious ways of victims dying.

This movie is great. I’d recommend it for a silly little movie night. Although it’s not the world’s best movie I really like it! One negative thing though. THE ENDING SUCKED 🫡😨💀😭

A Solid 3 Stars. I don't like horror movies, especially slasher ones= this one was actually pretty good. People who complained about the acting? Uh, there really wasn't any acting as there isn't much to the whole movie. The story is good, nice twist which I somewhat figured out but all in all, a nice watch. I'd keep it in my collection.

I am sooo surprised by the high ratings this has. The acting was terrible. The beginning was hardly at all thrilling, suspenseful or engaging. It did little to create or hold tension and therefore hold the viewer. It did get better in the end in all honesty and turned out better than I thought but still just a lame slasher. Maybe its cos slasher is not my genre I find it pointless and boring and the storylines weak, but yeh I barely made it through

Good slasher with surprising plot twists.

Okay, maybe I'm being a little harsh with my title, but the horror genre is currently littered with instances of nasty people getting inside your house, only to terrorise you, before murdering you in the most grisly way possible. Another family. Another big house. Another gathering of people which is going to be interrupted by a gang of nutters. Guess what... mobiles don't work so the family has to tend off the siege themselves. First the good: the banter between the family is believable and the gore is nice. Plus there are some moments of dark humour thrown in here and there to lighten the atmosphere. The bad: all the regular clichés are included. Simply by making yet another `home invasion' movie, you're limiting yourself as to how many different directions you can go in. Plus it looks a bit cheap and the acting is even sub-standard for a horror film. Personally, I'm a little tired of the genre, however, seeing as movies like it are still being made, I have to assume that there's still a market for it. So, if you're into the genre, or haven't seen any films like this before, then you might want to give it a go. It's not as bad as some of its contemporaries, but will never really be a classic due to its lack of originality. For fans of the genre only.

Good amounts of blood & another reason I’m thankful to be without siblings

Watch it for Sharni’s sake. Her character is my favorite Final It Girl. Just lots of hamminess when it comes to delivering this Family Dysfunction.

The family’s overplayed dysfunction makes their downfall painfully predictable. Vinson, however, injects genuine energy and charisma, doing her best to salvage a character let down by lazy writing.

This movie was so much better then a lot of the big budget trashbags calling themselves horror movies.. Not ironed out completely, but the twist, suspense, and horror.. done so well.. one of my faves that I always recommend to friends who wouldn't have watched it otherwise

A genuinely great movie. This is the horror, slasher, home invasion, and female representation movie we want and needed. Also its finally a movie where the victims aren't absolutely braindead, most of them were actually competent. 10/10 A good movie that seems realistic for what normal people would do.

One smart survivor among a bunch of idiotic yuppies for an amusing home invasion horror. Director Adam Wingard’s slasher horror mystery thriller You’re Next (2011) is decently entertaining, mostly because all of the main characters are complete morons. It’s really more funny, rather than frightening. This movie is like a guide of what not to do if you are attacked. The heroine is the only intelligent one smart enough to pick up heavy things as a weapon or make traps. Almost no one tries to avoid the killers, arms themselves, holds onto their weapons, fights back, helps the others, or prevents more attackers from entering the home. They also keep splitting up or avoid assisting the others to a ridiculous extent. When all the characters are awful selfish people, it’s easy to root for them to die. The lead heroine Erin is at least smart and attempts to survive, but the others are all arrogant and useless rich people. It’s a very implausible, but mostly engaging story. I definitely found it funnier than scary. Writer Simon Barrett delivers a tense home invasion scenario, clever twists, brutal violence, and tons of funny jokes. A lot of the dialogue is awkward and it’s certainly not a new premise by any means. There’s better slashers like You’re Next that have been released before and after it. You’re Next is just a worse version of The Strangers, Ready or Not, or even The Hunt. It’s not that scary, despite some thrilling attacks and interesting twists. The Night of the Living Dead type ending is crazy. It is very funny for the stupid characters and often horrible acting for much of the cast. Casting director Michelle Morris cast a talented lead actress in Sharni Vinson, who has to carry the film. The rest of the ensemble ranges from passable to laughably awful. Sharni Vinson is captivating and impressive as horror heroine Erin, who has to survive an onslaught of home invaders. Her brutal attacks and inventive traps make her feel tough and resourceful. Vinson is gripping and really carries You’re Next. Nicholas Tucci is pretty amusing as the silly Felix Davison. His wails and complaints are hilarious. Wendy Glenn is unhinged as the Goth Zee. She’s a scream here. A. J. Bowen is pretty boring as Erin’s annoying creep boyfriend Crispian Davison. Joe Swanberg is a riot as the ever judgmental Drake Davison. Sarah Myers is atrocious as the screaming Kelly Davison. Amy Seimetz is nice, but only appears briefly as Aimee Davison. Ti West is fun as the documentary filmmaker Tariq. Rob Moran is really flat and monotone in all his line readings as the father Paul Davison. Barbara Crampton is amusing as the hysterical mother Aubrey Davison. Calvin Reeder is great as the final cop, Officer Trubiano. Editor Adam Wingard’s cutting feels really disjointed and annoying. It’s hard to follow what’s on screen sometimes. Cinematographer Andrew Droz Palermo has super shaky camera shots and awkward framing. I didn’t care for the entire film being wide and medium shots mostly. The dark lighting from Marcus Batton made it hard to see all the action. Composer Mads Heldtberg provides heavy synth music for the film score, but it needed to go harder to be scarier. Costume designer Emma Potter came up with cool masks and outfits. Makeup artist Zsófia Ötvös does great work here on everyone. In short, You’re Next is thrilling and funny, but not nearly scary enough. It has really mixed acting performances.

8/10. 87/100. | Not quite as good as the first couple watches, but still great. Pretty close to what I originally rated it - 93/100.

Watchable, actually had a few good scenes, but the plot was to predictable.... Ending was pretty good tho

This movie was entertaining, consistent, at least until the end. Although, the camera shots were dizzying and too close in some scenes and I almost began to think that I was Next.

You’re Next is an okay horror flick. If you are after heaps of gory deaths, a ball-busting heroine and little else, this one will suit you down to the ground.

True, not the greatest ever, but damn I like it. Bite me.

Not sure if my expectations going in were set super low, or I just genuinely enjoyed it. Kept my attention and the characters were fairly decent. Pretty good home invasion/survival film. I did wonder how they saw anything out of those masks to be able to do some of the things they did.
