Yves Saint Laurent Reviews
🇫🇷 This 2014 biographical film is based on the life of French designer Yves Saint-Laurent from the early beginning of his career in 1958 when he met his lover and business partner, Pierre Bergé and together they built a formidable fashion empire despite their terribly complex life together. The outstanding performances are the highlight of the movie, but sadly the plot suffers from an awkward structure and an ending that will make the viewer wonder what it was all about. What's the point of telling this particular story? It is just showing a really bad side of the late designer, presenting him as a terrible person. There is nothing innovative about it, it doesn't go deep into the drama, but it manages to be entertaining nonetheless given the visually appealing scenes and the expectation that something great will happen.
Une incursion somme toute courte dans l'intimité du designer mais néanmoins une belle perspective de son caractère.
I was really looking foward to watching this film (rented through Amazon's Lovefilm Scheme) The two principal actors give great performances. The film looks gorgeous in terms of location and the clothes etc... The only drawback, practically non-existant English subtitles. A great shame because I enjoyed the film, despite its 101 minute duration. Only recommended if your french speaking abilities, aren't too rusty. I did struggle with this. 3.5 stars, would've been a clean 4 with better subtitles.
It kind of assumed that you knew general biographical information about Yves Saint Larent and glossed over some details that might have helped the movie be stronger. For what it was, it was good, but it could have been better.

I anticipated seeing the movie YvesSaitLaurent but sadly it came up for too short. I cannot believe that Yves himself would have been disappointed. So little emphasis on his creative process and so much more attention to life long struggle with addiction. Unless your looking to leave the theater feeling down you might want to add this to y9ur pass list. The main impression I was left with is that Yve could never have become his own brand without the help of so many people who picked up his slack in between halucination and drug downtime. I was greatly disappointed in the direction this film took and it fell so short of good. The acting was very good but through no fault of theirs its a bust!
The movie setting, costumes, the topic of haute couture, in french was great for me. I highly recommend if you are learning the language.
Yves saint Laurent benefits from a strong performance by Pierre Niney. But it's disappointingly dull treatment of it's fascinating source material makes it rather shallow and forgettable.
Nothing more than a generic biopic. Feels like a 온라인카지노추천 movie, although HBO could have probably done a better job. The film is just an overview of the artist and never really tells a comprehensive story. It just jumps from one episode to the next without a cohesive factor to hold everything together.
Retrata um pouco da vida do famoso estilista Yves Saint Laurent. No geral, o filme não tem grandes pretensões. É biográfico e informativo. Possui momentos interessantes como mostrar uma sequência de planos diferentes em um mosaico de Mondrian. Nada demais!
Plenty of bravura, mainly from the young and dashingly handsome Pierre Niney, but half way through the movie one starts to lose interest as it plumbs the characters downhill into self-destruction and with each passing minute (and show) it becomes less about St. Laurent and more about, well, cameos from the ancillary characters (Lagerfeld, the brief & tumulous affair with his lover, Betty/Loulou and even Andy Warhol). Nor does one quite know how to make of Pierre Berge's influence in YSL's life.
Il manque un petit quelque chose au niveau des défilés, ceci dit, l'emphase est bien axée sur ses relations intimes et la psychologie générale du personnage.Ça demeure très intéressant et plaisant à écouter dans l'ensemble.
Excellent work of photography, music, script, but I think Yves is personified rather as a person who went into decline cocaine would have been great if the story will focus more on your wonderful work.
The worst film I have ever had the displeasure to watch. Something about a French fashion designer called Yves Saint Laurent. I terminated my viewing a third of the way through. That's not through xenophobia at this French production it is just completely boring and easy to lose the plot through disinterest. The subtitles of the French language production are a total turn off. After a hard days work I just couldn't be bothered to read so fast.
