Zodiac Reviews
Gets slow for a minute but has some very suspenseful moments and keeps the audience guessing
Definitely recommend giving it a watch.
Loved this movie. The scenes seemed authentic. The actors, even the ones who gave me the movie star quality, all became characters that kept me interested in the suspense and drama storylines. The story is based on real events, which adds an extra layer to the story for those who like to check and see how close or close to real events the movie tried to be. Nor was there a scene in this movie where I went "uh this seems fake". A quality to everything when watching the whole movie, which I have a few times. The scenes that were filmed contributed to the real factor in this movie including the gruesome moments, again this movie was based on killings so one can anticipate there might be these moments. I enjoy watching movies where there are journalists or people attempting to uncover truths, facts about crimes and this one delivered for me with aunthentic manner the story was told.
A reference in medium of investigative films, approved.
The movie seems promising at first but it was very boring
Perfect movie!! And one of Fincher's best.
The mystery is eerie and haunting like a cold whisper that runs along the back of your neck. A classic.
The best true crime film since All the President’s Men.
This might be the worst movie I’ve ever seen. So slow, repetitive, and the worst ending
Very, very good movie.
This is the Zodiac speaking. David Fincher is the GOAT. This movie has excellent cinematography with an unsettling atmosphere, depicting real horror at times. The slow-burn pacing of Zodiac is great at keeping you engaged during its 2-hour-and-37-minute runtime. This movie also offers great character development. The costume design is outstanding, using testimony from Mike Mageau (the only person to survive the Zodiac killer), police reports, and crime scene photos to stay accurate to real-life events. The soundtrack and score are amazing. This film has outstanding, meticulous attention to detail. The set design is great, immersing you in the San Francisco Bay Area. The performances are fantastic, especially from Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., and Jake Gyllenhaal. The story is extremely captivating and well-written, making it one of the most accurate “based on true events” movies ever. This proves that David Fincher is a great director. Remember, the Zodiac killer was never officially caught, so stay watchful—he could be out there right now.
Zodiac tells a mind-blowing true story about a serial killer. It's a well-written and directed movie. The protagonists are very enjoyable, relatable or realistic. In the first half of the film the mystery is great, I was guessing who the killer was and every other 5 minutes I thought of somebody else, but after a while it was obvious who it was. Maybe it was a little too obvious and that's why I thought it would be somebody else. That's probably why I was a little underwhelmed at the end. The dialogues were very realistic and flawless. So the writing was amazing, but I was expecting a litlle biz more mystery. The direction is obviously amazing, the cinematography was excellent and the editing was great, even though the pacing wasn't. I think it would have benefitted the movie, if it was a little less longer. The acting performances were amazing, I saw characters not the film stars, who played them. Zodiac is a true story and that is unbelievable, and David Fincher made an amazing movie about it, but to be honest I expected a little bit more mystery.
Zodiac - 10/10. David Fincher is a director of detail. His film's are meticulous and precise, with great editing and pacing. His films have been celebrated and successful, but the one film that seemed to not gross a big profit was Zodiac. Ironically though, I, along with many film buffs, consider Zodiac to be his strongest film in his career. The film was highly acclaimed when it came out, but has gained more and more fans over the years, with a resurgence of popularity thanks to Fincher's similarly toned series Mindhunter. What makes this film so amazing is the performances and production on this film. There's tons of underrated performances in this film (to name a few: Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr, Anthony Edwards, Chloe Sevigny, and John Carroll Lynch). Everyone has a time spanning character arc in this film. We start the characters off at one stage and see how the Zodiac killer's killings and taunting transform their respective lives. Its actually a huge strength in this film, as these are characters that we begin to care about and wonder how much this unknown man's actions are threatening their lives and mental states. The film's production values are also incredible. The way that Fincher captures post 70s California is marvellous. We are transported to that era, and feel like everything and anything from that time is super authentic. He also does an incredible job of building tension and suspense. This not like his previous killer film (Se7en), where its more focused on the killings. For the first hour, we see what the killer does but the rest of the film gives us this uneasy and super frustrating feeling of having to witness the characters fumble through the case and nearly catch the culprit. The movie acts more like a drama than a horror film, and I think that's why it might have done not so great at the box office. If you're into highly detailed crime dramas and have never seen Zodiac, then this epic is definitely for you!
This is a well-made movie as the critics have said the only problem with it is that whether anyone knows it or not it glorifies evil
Rating: 8/10. 84/100
It's worth a watch for sure that's crazy that the Zodiac was never actually caught but hey I would stand behind Robert Graysmith's research I think he was reliable and accurate. Why do you have to make Robert Downey Jr and alcoholic in this boo, That basement scene was a little creepy and very cinematic.
A slow thoughtful perfectly acted and directed film about tragic events in California.
Worst movie, zero pacing, zero thrilling. Overall: Overrated, dumb David fincher's movie! Rating: 2/10
