Black Mirror: Season 7 Reviews
It was a good show overall but that one episode with the classical movie was so bad and made me stop watching the rest of the episodes! I felt it kept me hostage and was just bad. It would be 4 stars if that episode was not included
Black Mirror is unfortunately predictable and tedious. The ideas and themes are unoriginal having been countlessly covered by serious sci writers for decades in one form or another. It’s hard work trying to get through what are often one hour shows. Despite my criticism, I’ll keep trying and hoping given I am a serial sci-fi buff.
Episodes 2 & 3 were so bad I took off a star. 1 & 4 were good. 5 & 6 were great.
Disappointing & forgettable Season 7 lacks any of the grit /darkness/ shock of earlier seasons, where that dark feeling sticks with you long after watching; for example White Bear, Shut Up & Dance, Hated in the Nation. The romantic episodes pale in comparison to San Junipero & Hang the DJ. Some say it's a return to form, which I guess you could say it has the same tone of Be Right Back, but that also means it's recycled, unoriginal, somewhat slow paced... perhaps it's just been made too mainstream for Netflix. Common People & Eulogy had the potential to be great, but still missed that gut punch/ pulling that emotional response from the audience. I have watched some of the earlier episodes over and over, and wouldn't care about watching any of these again. The earlier seasons had forgettable episodes too, and I feel like they're all like that now.
Some episodes are better than others for sure. The longer ones seemed to fall a little flat to me.
It's always an indulgence watching Black Mirror and its mind-blowing concepts of technological advances, and season 7 delivers just that. Phenomenal. 5 stars. I hope they never stop producing these.
Based on what I’ve watched this season of the series, it’s good so far, but it doesn’t reach the level of perfection that previous seasons achieved. Still, it’s one of the better seasons of the show. I hope there will be more seasons like this one. Personally, I really enjoyed this season, although there were a few episodes where the ending was good but not what I expected (for example, episode 2 of this season).
Loved Black Mirror Season 7—great concepts and cast! It really captured the spirit of the first two seasons. Hope they keep going like this!
*Black Mirror* Season 7 feels like a true return to form. After two mid seasons that lacked the spark of earlier entries, this one delivers fresh, disturbing, and thought-provoking stories that tap back into the show's core themes of technology, humanity, and dystopian twists. It’s great to see not only new stories but also some sequels that expand the universe in clever ways. The writing is sharper, the tone darker, and the ideas more memorable. While not every episode is perfect, the season overall is gripping and fun. It reminded me why I loved *Black Mirror* in the first place.
The first 4 seasons were great. This season is far from mysterious. Very basic short films
Season 7! MIND-BLOWING AND INTENSE!!!! This season marks a triumphant return to the series’ dark, disturbing roots. The writing is phenomenal, packed with inventive concepts and harrowing, thought‑provoking scenarios that challenge our understanding of both technology and human behavior. The star‑studded cast delivers powerhouse performances, breathing fresh energy into each episode and elevating the show’s renewed potential. Most twists are genuinely unexpected, and every episode lingers in your mind long after the credits roll—just as in the best seasons past. And yes, Thronglets are absolutely delightful and lovely!! 👾 🧠 COMMON PEOPLE - 10/10 Somber and dark! 🧢 BÊTE NOIRE - 7/10 Comical and puzzling! 🎥 HOTEL REVERIE - 9/10 Romantic and compelling! 👾 PLAYTHING - 8/10 Creative and mind-altering! ⤷ Thronglets - 10/10 Addictive! ❤️🩹 EULOGY - 10/10 Lovely and captivating! 🚀 USS CALLISTER: INTO INFINITY - 8/10 Adventurous and intriguing! Bravo for a season that truly delivers!
Black mirror is back!! Great serie again!!!
Two of the episodes were great, the others were stupid and a waste of time
These stories have the power to linger with you gor a very long time... great story telling.
It started off great and then took a weird turn and then went great again and then uninspiring.
Just the 2nd episode was bad enough to let me leave a "totally rotten" star review. I have no idea what is the problem of whoever wrote this garbage, I'm torn to understanding if he was drunk, high or just mentally challenged
Another good season. I'd skip Hotel Reverie and Playthings has an irritating ending but otherwise it's fantastic. Minor spoilers below. Hotel Reverie requires too much suspension of disbelief. They plow through a bunch of problems that they could obviously just do a reset on but don't. The whole time I'm waiting for them to provide a good reason for why they don't but they never do. Then later they do exactly that when it's convenient for creating an emotional problem for the lead character. The old movie setting is also irritating given the black and white and the ridiculous characters. Playthings sets up amd tells a great story and then ends without adequately explaining the motivation which felt really empty and disappointing.
While the novelty of the concept is waning, I still thoroughly enjoyed this season. I really loved the episodes that focused on the characters' psyches and emotions, more so than the dangers of new tech. Every episode definitely had some horrific/tragic elements that just stay with you. I wish that they stayed away from things that are just pure fantasy (e.g., shuffling through realities) and that they used less familiar faces for the lead roles (although great performances all around).
Eulogy is the best of the whole series. Very touching and moving of love, regret & death. Don't miss it.
Fantastic season minus the Hotel Reverie episode.
