The Last of the Mohicans Reviews
A dream of a movie, Madeline Stowe is incredible and as always Michael Mann makes the finest of films!
Great story with amazing performances. Underscored by the film's amazing soundtrack, it's a worthy blockbuster.
One of the best movies ever made. I have watched this more times than I know. They don’t make movies like this anymore. Salute to all 90s kids and movies 🫡
This was the first time that I had noticed the star Daniel Day-Lewis in a movie, and he absolutely blew me away. He is 100% believable as Hawkeye, the white son of a wandering Native American Hunter. This film is emotional, features a brilliant score, And is based on a classic American novel. They’ve been other adaptations of the story, but for sure, heart, wrenching drama, and action, this is the best version to watch.
Objectively not a good movie. The soundtrack? The sound editing in general? What HAPPENED? No character is more than barely developed, the 'dramatic' scenes do almost nothing to elicit emotion from the viewer, and even DDL couldn't bring this movie to a three-star level of overall acting. Madeline Stowe was the (only) highlight, in her five scenes with dialogue or so. If you put this film on, and at any point, you start to consider changing it to The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie, or 50 First Dates, or anything short of the actual Hallmark Channel, feel free to just go for it.
I don't think it's Daniel Day Lewis' best performance, but it's still an epic film.
Not quite the action I expected, I remembered more epic I must say. In the end the movie is great, slow, but great.
It is not bad, the plot is quite good, but I got bored and the character introduction is confusing as hell. The battle choreography could have been much better.
Day lewis brings his A game in this movie. Beautifully shot and made so overall a great watching experience
LOTM is a sweeping period piece that is classic Mann style. Bold detail fight scenes, pulsing story line, and wonderfully acted. This movie never shows it's age. Should be on everyone's top 5 list.
Dissapointment. I really thought it would have something to offer. It's boring, really boring, and with very bad musical selection. Also, the least impactful role of DDL career, maybe
This is in my top 5 movies of all times. 10/10
One of the best casts assembled. An epic move for the ages.
This movie is fantastic in every way the directing music acting everything! I love Daniel Day Lewis
Great movie when it came to the theaters all those years ago. The time period setting of this movie is one that I find particularly interesting in North American history. Everything from the costumes, acting, story, and scenery is top notch.
Epic cinematography combined with a beautiful musical score helped create this masterpiece. The acting is beyond brilliant & the performances of Daniel Day-Lewis, Madeline Stowe, Russell Means, Eric Schweig, & others are brilliant. Worth watching again & again...
From a great novel of adventure, love and duty a movie that could have been better.
My absolute most favorite movie. The cinematography, the acting, the sets, and the action scenes all feel authentic with genuine stakes. The scene with Cora arguing with her father and Duncan is pure acting gold.
Outstanding cinematography but sometimes the acting was not up to par
An uninspired confusing mess of a movie. If I had to summarize it the it was two, badly choreographed fight scenes with a siege in the middle. Oh yeah and there was that whole ending thing with tones of people falling off cliffs that was meant to be dramatic but was actually vaguely comical. You know it's bad when the one from the 1920s was more entertaining
