Painfully earnest, addiction-tackling piffle

Thomas does a few interesting things here, including shooting the flashbacks and heavy-drinking scenes on video, which has a weird and wild grain to it when contrasted with the rest of the film.

Whilst the movie provides a soft look at a hard subject, and at times can preach a bit too much, it returns an entertaining watch and good performances by a solid cast.

28 Days contains Sandra Bullock's best performance...it's just too bad the film itself isn't up there with her.

An underrated actress, Bullock capably fulfills the demands of her role as a pill-popping drunk. But the story never allows Bullock to escape the comfort zone of a romantic comedy.
