Across the Universe proves to be a strikingly relevant experience...

Imagine that an eminence of creative surgery kidnapped the love of his life to return it transformed into an exact replica of what they hate most. [Full Review in Spanish]

Boring and at times soporific. [Full Review in Spanish]

Through choreography, animation and all kinds of digital effects, the vignettes are used as supports for a script that, by itself, would never take off from the ground. [Full Review in Spanish]

All the musical numbers have their own temperature and the narrative digression is the order of the day, inscribed in a fabulous explosion of colors, music and dance choreography. [Full Review in Spanish]

Across the Universe is a platinum long-play that makes a kitsch exquisite Jacques Demy caviar. [Full Review in Spanish]

If you're willing to love it, you let an ambitious film like this in and you let its faults grow on you. All you need is love indeed.

Across the Universe is a good-natured (if sometimes enthusiastic to the point of corniness) romp.

The songs are jumbled here, and this may sound like nitpicking, but you can t explain the chaos of "Helter Skelter" or the sad melancholy of "Let It Be" without first touching on the hopefulness of "All You Need is Love" and patience of "Dear Prudence."

What a bloody mess.

Universe's generic storyline and literalist approach to the songs pull it down. Even a relatively simple love song like George Harrison's "Something" outclasses the relationship it illustrates here.

It's a little slow going in the start, but once their engines are revved up, every swirl and lick are thought out with care and love...

If only...Across the Universe is simply a good film that easily should have been an unforgettably great one.

If you're going to reinvent songs, you cannot go wrong with the Beatles, even if John, Paul, George and Ringo have been replaced by Evan, Jim, Bono, Joe Cocker and others in a revolutionary way.

Those beautiful Beatles songs have been given a bland Broadway makeover that robs them of their power.

Hair was bad enough, but this is a load of dandruff.

This one blew me away.

Logically, I know that love isn't all you need. For the hour and a half I spent rewatching Across the Universe, though, I thought it was.

Unfortunately, Across the Universe never transcends the fundamental problems inherent in the concept.
