America: The Motion Picture Reviews
It’s a film that desperately tries to make us laugh but fails miserably with horribly dated pop culture and meta-references, soulless animation, and many offensive stereotypes to boot.

America: The Motion Picture is so stupid that it has no idea of how stupid it is, valuing so much of its comedic style over any form of substance that results in one of the most irritating animated features to watch.

A view of history from people raised on G.I. Joe cartoons and nothing else. Its ridiculousness is weirdly exciting, even if its satire isn't quite as sharp as it could be.

The voice cast is certainly game...and a lot of the jokes are so ridiculously stupid that you can't help but laugh.

I hereby find too many of the jokes in America: The Motion Picture to be self-evident.

There is nothing that feels insightful, evocative or worst of all funny.

[A]n idiotic curio of a very specific time in American culture. It is loud and broad and willfully stupid even as it hints at some deeper meaning that simply isn't there. It's dumb as hell ... and I, much as I hate to admit it, had a hell of a time.

This is a hot bucket of vomit and one of the worst films I've ever seen in my entire life.

They're trying very hard to be clever, outrageous and so over the top, and it's like watching a pigeon trying to build a nest in a wind storm. You're more aware of the effort going into it than the end result.

A riotously irreverent pastiche that mashes up American history with bonkers action movie chaos.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 8, 2021
America: The Motion Picture is the worst movie I've watched this year.

... a scatterbrained mess perhaps conceived during the waning hours of a frat-house rager. However, it leaves quite a hangover.
| Jul 3, 2021
Defiles the history textbook and provides its own f'ed-up retelling of the founding of this f'ed-up nation in fun 2D animated fashion.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 3, 2021
America: The Motion Picture is fundamentally an offensive mixed-bag that relies too heavily on lazy stereotypes and over-used pop culture parodies.
| Original Score: 1.5/5 | Jul 2, 2021
Most of the time, it's knowingly stupid, which makes watching it 90 minutes of occasional fun and frequent indifference.

Even when you think it's only acting rude and juvenile just because, it's much smarter than that, particularly whenever it skewers American attitudes (both conservative and liberal).
| Original Score: 3/4 | Jul 1, 2021
Rarely have I seen a movie so confident that its audience not only revels in American benightedness but is eager to identify with it. That makes America: The Motion Picture not only a waste of time but an insult to ignoramuses.

Though loyalists and sticklers for historical accuracy may not consider it their cup of tea, "America" will likely win over anyone who knows not to take it too seriously.

If you make it to the point where King James is deploying a ravenous soccer ball to eat people on his behalf, you'll most likely be immersed in this absurd film to the point where it all kind of makes sense.

Just a mess.
