Aunque no se trata de una gran película, Anaconda es una de esas películas infravaloradas que formó parte de una época donde los efectos digitales estaban renovando el cine. Se trata de una película que gano el reconocimiento que se merecía gracias a los medios domésticos y las incontables transmisiones que tuvo en televisión. La realidad es que se trata de una de las mejores películas de la década de los 90 y tiene bastantes cosas positivas. Aunque tiene algunos elementos del horror ecológico, la historia en sí cuenta más como un thriller de aventura. La película es una historia de aventura bastante agradable con elementos de intriga que hacen de esta película algo más que solo estar orientado a la aventura. Tiene un inicio bastante intrigante y cuando los personajes comienzan su viaje, la película aparenta ofrecer una tradicional historia de aventuras. Eso cambia cuando ellos conocen a Paul Sarone y este personaje genera muchas sospechas al punto que la intriga no deja de estar presente en toda la película. Se trata de alguien que sabe bastante y oculta algo que no da a conocer hasta que la anaconda comienza a presentarse. Pronto se van descubriendo las verdaderas intenciones de Paul haciendo que esta no sea una historia de aventura cualquiera. Hay que decir que Jon Voight ha brindado una de sus mejores actuaciones en esta película y su rol como Paul Sarone es inolvidable. La anaconda es también otro personaje inolvidable en esta película y ha sido uno de los mejores monstruos del cine gracias a los efectos especiales. El diseño animatronico de la serpiente es estupendo y aún se sigue viendo bastante bien a pesar de los años. Incluso el CGI de la criatura luce bastante bien para la época y no ha envejecido mal. Los efectos especiales se han mantenido muy intactos y hacen que la serpiente tenga un encanto único. Algo que no se ha vuelto a ver en otras películas sobre serpientes. La anaconda tiene un lore muy interesante vinculado con los Shirishamas. Los tótems y las declaraciones de Paul dan a entender que no se trata de una simple serpiente. Más que ser una especie de monstruo, se trata más bien de una criatura que custodia el río que conduce a la tribu de los Shirishamas. Es claramente una de las enormes serpientes legendarias que han custodiado el territorio y que han sido adoradas por los Shirishamas durante siglos. Paul sabía bastante sobre ello y eso es lo que lo motiva a tratar de capturar a la anaconda sin importar el costo. Se trata de un fenómeno de la naturaleza que para un cazador puede valer una fortuna. Las motivaciones de Paul son evidentes y eso hace que lo lleven a usar a sus propios compañeros de viaje como sebo. Viendo la película con bastante precisión, se nota que Paul tenía todo calculado. Terri Flores es la única que comienza a tener sospechas sobre él y esta personaje demuestra tener bastante ingenio. Jennifer Lopez ha demostrado sus dotes actorales en esta película y en Selena. Algo curioso porque ambas películas fueron estrenadas el mismo año. Los demás miembros del elenco están bastante bien y la música de Randy Edelman es algo imposible de olvidar. Es una película que funciona muy bien en varios aspectos salvo algunos detalles. Lo más inverosímil fue cómo Paul pudo convencer a Gary muy fácilmente de ayudarlo. Al principio Gary es un personaje muy afectuoso que ama a Denise más que otra cosa. Pero que Paul lo haya manipulado muy fácilmente con la promesa de ganar mucho dinero si atrapaban a la serpiente fue algo demasiado extraño. Los personajes se encontraban en una situación de desesperación en la que parecía terminarse las opciones, pero que alguien como Gary que no tenía avaricia al principio cambie de pronto a ser el ayudante de Paul fue muy extraño. Otra cosa que la película tampoco explica es a fábrica abandonada en el territorio de los Shirishamas. Aunque no hay una explicación exacta, las señales indican que podría haberse tratado de una fábrica instalada por alguna industria con el fin de extraer recursos de ese territorio. Debió pertenecer a una industria muy importante y se podría teorizar que la fábrica fue abandonada por causa de las serpientes de la zona, aunque eso nunca es aclarado y queda como un enigma. A pesar de los detalles mencionados, Anaconda no deja de ser una película bastante buena. Es una de esas películas que marco a la generación de los 90 y los 2000 y eso la convierte en otra valiosa joya del mundo del cine. Mi calificación final para esta película es un 8/10.

Okay, Anaconda isn’t technically good, I'll admit that. But it’s the kind of not-good that loops back around to being amazing. Most importantly, I genuinely don't find it boring. Almost every scene, whether intentional or not, has some campy charm, humor or excitement. Jon Voight delivers a performance so bewildering it deserves it's own star on the walk of fame. Half the time he’s just leering at the camera like the uncle you no longer invite to Thanksgiving, the other half he’s chewing scenery with what I can only call a Spanish pimp accent. It’s gloriously dumb. The rest? Don't think too hard. There's giant snake going around eating people, which rules.

shlock inspired shlock and a terrific 90s time capsule. not enough snake and the surrounding elements are strong enough to hold it together like in Jaws. the CGI at the time was cool, then instantly became terrible and is now laughable, just like the movie itself!

This film is a masterpiece from the 97s but nowadays it is considered a terrible film with low-budget CGI.

Why is everyone hating? This movie is great for those who like a good creature feature. Has a nice ensemble cast, classic 90’s CGI and practical effects, and some creative kill scenes.

I remember going to see this in theaters when I was in middle school. This movie did really well in the box office if I remember correctly. Star studded cast and a giant killer snake? What more could you ask for? Turn off your brain and try not to look too deeply into it and enjoy yourself. John Voight is awesome in this flick. All the campiness and tropes are there, it's a good movie. Give it a chance.

1997's top film of the year. A really enjoyable film to watch. You definitely need to check it out. Starring: Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson and more. If you love horror films with dramatic scenes you'd wanna watch this. Directed by Luis Llosa. The casting is awesome and the graphics were pretty cool. There are some unwanted scenes in the beginning of the movie so don't watch it with young siblings. Just watch the rest of the movie.

Very slow to start. But this movie is filled with some pretty cool effects and adventure. Worth a watch for the creature feature fans.

This horror movie was pretty good. Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Owen Wilson, and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job in this movie. The plot of the movie was pretty intense and dramatic. It's about trying to capture an anaconda. The most dangerous snake in the world. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's not as bad as most people are saying it is. Those people have terrible tastes in movies.

This is a cheesy cult classic. I'm actually shocked to see it get less than 30%. Yeah it's not great but it's still entertaining. I think some films you just have to turn your brain off for and enjoy

Over 25 years old I can't remember if my dad bought the dvd They made sequels but this is the more enjoyable entry Made $136.8 million becoming a cult classic Almost forgot Jennifer Lopez was in this next to Jon Voight Ice Cube is kinda outta place as is Owen Wilson Apparently filming had to be halted for several weeks because the rain levels in the Amazon rose so much after a massive drought making boats inaccessible The animatronic effects for the snake are kinda fun given the brazen silliness A few jumps but not downright scary Voights performance is delightfully slimy too

Very disappointed that Nicki Minaj wasn't in the movie.

It's was so boring because you could tell who was going to die. Also the characters are dense.

A boldly dumb movie. Luis Llosa clearly knew what he was making and doubles down on every ridiculous element (i.e. allowing Jon Voight to give the most baffling performance of his career) which makes this thing very re-watchable.

Filme "água com açúcar" ,muitos erros infantis além de muitas cenas com jogo de câmera perdido. Atuações nada convincentes e roteiro bem meia boca , um filme que poderia ter feito mais sucesso.

This movies is just bad. I'm sure tat all the actors would love to forget about this movie. However I would love to praise the special FX crew. The andaconda itself looks amazing and so real. I only watch this movie because of that. One of the best practical fx I have seen in movies!!

Anaconda movies are reasonable for a action horror movie that fans can enjoy without being too disappointed

Bad cgi but a decent movie

I love this movie, it's funny and a bit scary. The snake looks really good for a 1997 film. The snake does look real to me. Ice cube and Jennifer Lopez were good in this, and Owen Wilson was also good aswell. Watch this film if like snake horror films.
