Armageddon Time Reviews
I really enjoyed this movie.. The story is heartwarming, poignant, believable and has great acting and terrific cast.
Good cast and performances but the ending made the entire movie a waste of my time.
The most interesting thing about this drama is how it portrays childhood with a bitter rather than bittersweet taste, because of the way in which dreams end up clashing with reality, and in the family nucleus there is not always harmony. One of those that you have to give them a chance.
Great settings, the kids’ performances are great. And Mr. Hopkins is a living legend. It’s funny how every time that a republican won the election everybody in USA thinks that the Armageddon is coming.
The main kid is unlikable and so is the rest of the family except for the grandpa who is played by the great Anthony Hopkins.
not sure if my issues are more with what this movie is saying or how it is saying it. besides that, it’s a nice quiet, contemplative, coming of age story.
Una película pequeña pero hermosa, con una trama sencilla y profunda que se siente tan personal, todo esto potenciado con un cast perfecto.
3/5, good acting but I'm not sure what the point of the film was supposed to be. Chastain has a small cameo.
Director James Gray's venture down memory lane produces a pessimistic opposite to Spielberg's "The Fablemans" to a familiar degree artistically tried in "The 400 Blows". He provides working pathos along with subtle unspoken hefty hints, though that could be part of the overall thin writing relying on the thematically grasped reception by ideal perspective. The main defense is based on memory transitionally penned onto the screen, leaving the intrigued viewers neutral between unsatisfactory and satisfactory. It garners mostly through its nice cast with Anthony Hopkins shining the most in a more welcoming presence well-kept while the rest is slowly losing performative interest at a draining rate. (B-)
The two stars are for Anthony Hopkins because if it weren't for him, there'd be nothing to see in this unbearably dull and bleak drama whose ending wins gold in most unsatisfying in cinema history.
This could have been such a great story, but the writing, structure and the storie's end, just plain sucked. What a disappointment. Though it was a great cast, it wasn't good enough to pull this one through, it died on the table, never to be resuscitated.
Trash, the end is confusing and stupid
Excellent. As a person who has a deep connection with their grandfather, I loved the movie's take on that relationship between the characters. It's entertaining, well-acted, and deep. Highly recommended.
It was so good! Great acting and a good story!
With Hopkins as a grandfather and Hathaway as a mom, this young boy is growing up in the 80s and having trouble finding his place. His best friend who is black is also struggling - and they scheme to run away to florida together - but the story doesn't end well.
The character development and story were both well done. What was odd to me is why they felt the need to make the film politically charged by portraying President Trumps father and aunt as tied to the elitist racist school. I'm curious if this is a true story or just another subversive way for a leftist to manipulate viewers.
I just watched this movie and respect it for being a powerful personal story. I thought the actors portrayed their roles brilliantly. I wished it was a series instead of a movie. It ended and I wanted more. Sadly, It was true to the way things were and still are in some places. There are really strong messages given worth experiencing.
Awful. Just awful. Vague point to the whole movie and no ending.
I'm angry at myself for finishing this movie. So the point of he movie is that America is racist and life is unfair? We already know. It's like there was no ending, there was no resolution no conclusion. What happened to the characters??? I can handle sad endings as long as there is an actual ending...2 stars only because the performances were pretty ok and believable.
This movie ends with the teenaged white protagonist (Paul) and his black friend (Johnny) arrested for stealing a computer from Paul's school, an idea that was orchestrated by Paul. It's the early 1980's, and the cops are especially suspicious of Johnny, but Paul makes an attempt to take the blame for the scheme. However, the cop knows Paul's father, and allows him to leave without being charged---while Johnny, who has no such fortunate connections, is left alone at the station to face the music! However, the movie (which is supposedly a bio of writer/director James Gray) ends on a very self-congratulatory note, because of Paul's attempt to tell the truth. Yes, he tried, but they still left Johnny alone to most likely go to juvenile detention by himself even though he was just an accomplice! There is no talk about trying to help him get out, either, just Paul's smug self-satisfaction!! As John McEnroe would say, "You cannot be serious!"
