Arthur Christmas Reviews

Every clever, creative piece just keeps building on top of one another until you’ve got an infectiously sweet Christmas comedy and, even more surprisingly, a timelessly relevant look at adapting to and living with changing times.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Dec 20, 2024

It softens your heart, makes you laugh, and provides a lighthearted time at the movies.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Mar 6, 2023

A sweet and heart-warming tale, with some inventive animation and charming voice cast.

The messages in Arthur Christmas are simple yet perfect for the holidays.

| Original Score: 3.5/4.0 | Sep 2, 2020

There are lots of unique characters and little touches that make this movie so much fun.

This is a simple little film, but it kept me interested. I enjoyed the idea of ninja-like elves helping to make Santa's mission feel like some sort of top-secret military mission, and it's a visually appealing movie.

I just love Arthur as a character.

| Original Score: 9/10 | Feb 14, 2019

Arthur Christmas doesn't exactly break any boundaries, but it is coherent and consistent in its themes of inclusiveness and caring.

Arthur Christmas isn't going to end up a Christmas classic... But it's worth seeing this year. It has old-fashioned values with a modern mind-set.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Jan 4, 2019

Arthur Christmas' characters have plenty of personality and make the film a really fun watch. It's also short and sweet, with a number of action-packed set-pieces that will keep the younger folk among us occupied for its entirety

Excellent vocal performances and impeccable 3-D CG animation... [Full review in Spanish]

Sentimentality is unavoidable as this rollicking adventure comes to an end, but it doesn't force-feed a Christmas message.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Sep 6, 2017

It may look like a holiday trifle, but it's still a sleigh ride worth taking.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Sep 1, 2017

Don't go expecting a sequel, but do go expecting all the unforced festive spirit you could hope for.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 14, 2014

Parents may shed a nostalgic tear or two, while their children can enjoy spotting all the witty visual details.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 14, 2014

Aimed squarely at children, but painless to keep grown-ups from checking their watches.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Dec 14, 2014

It's disarming, imaginative and genuinely funny.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Dec 14, 2014

The script (co-written by debut feature director Sarah Smith) is fortified with meaning and smarts and plays well for both children and adults.

| Dec 14, 2014

Arthur Christmas makes a welcome addition to the holiday movie line-up, because it's a movie that one can watch repeatedly without it becoming as stale as last year's fruitcake.

| Dec 14, 2014

The comedy works. But there's not much to the characters that proves memorable. It's not a bad movie, but...
