Back to Black Reviews
This film was straight up depressing. Drunk and a screaming fool, I couldn't feel sorry for Amy at all. I don't believe she was this bad in the beginning. I wouldn't recommend it to her fans. It doesn't bring out her best which is her voice and songwriting ability.
I found it average. I could not get any perspective from the film however the scene when she met Blake was very good.
If Amy was alive, she would have laughed her ass off. The movie is an offense to Amy!!! Both the actress vocal and appearance. Lack of authenticity - almost like the director didn’t knew about Amy before making the movie. The movies a disaster and feels like a joke 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 Crazy that it’s legal to make such a tacky movie on behalf of a dead person.
Do not agree with the negative reviews of the critics in this case. I think the performance by Marisa Abela is nothing short of astounding and this made the film. I thought the singing was actually Winehouse but it was actually Abela channeling her; an amazing feat. I get how some felt the portrayal of the dad was sugarcoated, perhaps it did not highlight her inner demons so much, but that did not take away the enjoyment of the film IMHO.
Absolutely horrible. So disrespectful to Amy. Basically just saying shes an alcoholic and a druggy and blake was the only important thing in her life. Amy would NOT want this to be made.
Marisa Abela does an incredible job at portraying Amy Winehouse, that's the only part that worked in this film. The storytelling is just lazy and boring. It's almost only about the relationship between Amy and Blake Fielder-Civil. Everything else is just background noise in her story. So as a biographical story, this is a bad movie.
Instead of showing the awful truth of Amy’s tragic death thanks to greedy paparazzi and terrible parents, the film feels like exploration that is despicably squeaky clean
Direção: Ok Atuação: Bom Roteiro: Ok Caracterização: Bom Soundtrack: Bom
It was not great but at the same time not horrible. I like how they tried to make Amy's spirit as a person because she was amazing. What I didn't like they left out a lot of information, they don't show her relationship with her music or her relationship with jazz music and don't show her with her friends. Overall I'd recommend to people who just love her music but I wouldn't recommend who love her music and know her as a person
A fake and offensive version of Amy's story, full of lies. The documentary 'Amy' is much better and truthful about who she really was. However, good performance from Marissa, but this isn't worth it, especially with awful people like her dad profiting off of this film.
There is so much of Amy Winehouse's history that need to be told. This movie is way far from what really happened that is disgusting!!!
The worst film ever, truly offensive to Amy's legacy.
This story is a complete mix up of incorrect facts and straight up falsehoods. Whoever made this monstrosity of a "biopic" should be ashamed of themselves. This movie is offensive. And the audience rating is a joke because no one takes the time to learn the true story before jumping to conclusions after watching an awful Amazon movie. This is an affront to storytelling as a whole.
Boring, lazy, terrible… seemed like the whole team had no idea who she was the acting was horrid!!!!
Worst biopic ever. 0 minutes regarding the music. Amy is portrayed as a lovesick person which is the entire basis of this movie. I strongly suggest to skip this one.
The lead performer does a solid job, though the film meanders, and glosses over anything of substance to this immensely talented, and complicated artist. The audience is never given any insight. Disappointing effort.
I hope it wins every.single.award
As a longtime fan of Amy Winehouse and someone who witnessed her rise to fame in London, this film evokes a strong sense of nostalgia, transporting me back to an era when her unique talent captivated audiences worldwide. The lead actress gives a commendable performance in capturing Amy’s essence, which is no small feat given Amy’s iconic status in both media and music. However, I felt her portrayal could have benefited from added depth to fully convey the complexity of Amy’s character. The costume department succeeded in recreating some of Amy’s signature looks, though certain finer details seemed overlooked. Nevertheless, the film reminds viewers of the extraordinary young talent that was lost far too soon. As a fan, I had eagerly anticipated this film, and it serves as a fitting tribute. However, a deeper exploration of Amy’s relationships—particularly with her father and close circle—would have provided a more compelling and nuanced perspective on her life.
