Beyond Borders Reviews
Why can't you have a love story out of famine, starvation and suffering. This happens all the time. This is a moving love story born out of both characters' passion to help people.
We have loved this film since 2004. Well acted, great fleshing out of the characters, Very moving, realistic, a call to action. Even the romantic parts that others don't appreciate, I completely understand in light of Jolie's personal life, and since I a person who has been in traumatic situations, I know how finding a person who shares your passions and energy is so compelling.
The movie was a little too political for me, but it was still able to capture the evolving love story between the two leads. Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen had incredible chemistry that hooked me. All in all, the movie was good.
Lame boring movie starring Angelina jolie and some random guy that I've seen before. I'll forget about this in 20 minutes.
White privilege saves world hotspots in this nonsense , which seems like Angelina Jolies job application to the U.N. , I hope she doesn't let her kids watch this technically inaccurate tripe.
This movie has taken a serious beating from critics. Yet, although the backdrop was a bit over-the-top, the story moves along, is interesting, and touches subjects of great import--the global refugee problem, war, and the all important de-mining issues (seventy-eight countries have mines scattered about killing 15-20K people yearly). Film is a way of telling a story. And although this wasn't the strongest storytelling, or perhaps as others pointed out the plot is weak. Still, it was coherent, generally good filmmaking, and acting better than adequate, especially Clive Owen. .
Beyond Borders is a disappointing film. It is about the turbulent romance between two star-crossed lovers. Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen give terrible performances. The script is badly written. Martin Campbell did a horrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture.
A good movie to watch. I think the main reason I love this movie is because this is the start of when she became interested in humanitarian work, and it's cool to see how someone's work can reflect onto their personal life.
If anyone says that this movie trivializes human suffering... they've completely missed the point. regardless of a romantic entanglement going on, the depiction of humanity in this film is emotional and powerful. i would like to ask the critics who bashed this movie, what exactly they're doing for society or how they're raising awareness themselves :)
A beautifully shot film sets in Africa. It's a romantic film but since Angelina Jolie is in it it's already much more interesting to watch.
Tear your heart out and stomp on it a few times and then you may be in a place to start watching this movie. Passionately filmed portraying the worst that you want to see in a famine area. Strongly scripted and filmed with effective sound brings the horror to your mind and what is left of your heart. Nibbles: Tut tut, fast and give the money to a food charity.
Jolie still knows how to carry its character and her partner (Owen)... The movie knows how to handle its genre and it also knows how to manage what will the great ending will be...
