BlackBerry Reviews
Tight intriguing story, no nuance, suprisingly heartfelt. Good performances. Based on a somewhat true story set in recent contemporary/ modern history.
Really enlightening film about the rise and fall of the BlackBerry company. Surprisingly funny as well with talented performances by Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton. Matt Johnsons acting and directing superb as well, really sets the tone for the movie.
A well-made, tense, unconventional biopic about the creation of a phone I used over a decade ago.
A solid underdog story that brings back the nostalgic phone's history. I enjoyed it but I personally don't love business stories so it's alright for me.
Watching a film like this you assume its really based on the true story and if done right, like this movie, it doesnt matter if its really true or not. Its a great ride and reminds us of a simpler time. Watch it to be entertained and not given a history lesson
A well performed look into the development of smart phones and the competitive business it takes to produce our beloved devices
Utterly captivating. And Glenn Howerton really brought it. CEO Dennis
I liked the ensemble acting.
Blackberry begis slowly but picks up steam shortly. The movie captures the uneasy alliance between businessmen and techies, and sustains the suspense till the end. A fun movie, check it iut.
My son and I really enjoyed this movie! I clearly remember when Blackberries were a new, big deal. So fun and interesting to see a story about something so nostalgic. I thought the acting was great and the movie stayed pretty true to the era with the environment, costuming, hairstyles. It moved along well and was entertaining to watch unfold. There was one incident that was so predictable that I cant imagine it really happened (had to do with a cab ride). Before it took place I hoped they wouldnt take it in that predictable direction, but they did. I think they thought it might add a little suspense but I was disappointed. If that situation truly did occur, Ill eat my words, but I doubt it. Thats the only reason I knocked off a half star. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable flick!
I have not seen this Nirvanna the Band the Show so I went into this blind. This was fucking great. Super interesting bio pick that's really funny and has some excellent performances, especially from Glenn Howerton who absolutely killed it in this. I look forward to seeing more from these people cuz this was one of the more fun movies I’ve seen in a while.
A very interesting and well told story of the rise and fall of Blackberry. Although I don’t have anything to compare it to, Glenn Howerton was great as BB co-CEO Jim Balsillie. I enjoy Jay Baruchel in everything and this was no exception.
Glenn Howerton is a rageful maniac that could scratch anybody's eyes out of their sockets at any moment! He was phenomenal!
The movie provided some backstory about the rise & fall of the BlackBerry Co. How much of it aligns to the truth is to be determined, but the movie took its time to develop the rise of the BlackBerry within the cell phone/mobile device industry during the mid 2000s. However, the downfall of Blackberry concludes the film, but in a slightly more rapid fashion with less emphasis placed on the details. Overall enjoyed the story, but was hoping for more character development & details into the demise.
Interesting and entertaining account of the rise and fall of BlackBerry. Well-acted and directed. Recommended.
Great movie, sad story.
Great story, outstanding acting by the cast, and The Office-like filming. An epic depiction of the amazing and swift rise and downfall of another brilliantly-led, but ultimately mis-managed Startup due to the fast-changing technology sector.
This movie was so good!!! Already ready to go back and watch again. Completely unexpected.
Amazing rise and fall of a "Blockbuster" 800 lb gorilla...
Excellent story and well executed within limited budget. If only this movie had a A list actors and technical crew (especially, cinematography and makeup), it would have topped 2023 new releases.
