Blade II Reviews
Not quite as good as 1
This is my favorite vampire movie of all time. Excellent work by Phil Tippett and Steve Johnson.
It's a decent sequel, but falls flat on many levels. The setup is slow and the story is predictable. Had they stuck with one director, the films would've flowed better as each one feels disconnected from one another.
It's a better movie, way better directed. But that's to be exteced with Guillermo del Toro in control of the project. It's a lot more fun, less clunky. Mind, it's still not as good as his Hellboy projects, but there's a lot to be said about this one. Wesley Snipes is more comfortable with this rol and seems to have trained a lot more since the first movie. His movements while fighting are a lot more fluent (and better shot, so they come across a lot better). There's cgi during the fights for the superhuman stuff they couldn't do in practical, and that's where it shows its age unfortunately. Besides that, it could be have been made 10 years ago. Unbelievable it's a 23 year old movie now. And that I watched it a lot during my teenage years, I have forgotten everything about this, besides the ending. Norman Reedus was a bit disappointing in this, alas.
I enjoyed Blade II marginally more than the first movie, with its raised stakes and plot twists. Wesley Snipes once again carried with his charismatic performance of the titular character. I was surprised how many big names are attached to this one including the likes of Norman Reedus, Ron Perlman, and of course the director himself Guillermo Del Toro. I was too young in the early 2000s to know if those names were as big then as they are now, but it's always fun when I spot talent I recognize in media I haven't seen before.
'Blade II' is a good follow-up to the 1998 predecessor. I'd personally say that the plot in this 2002 flick isn't as good, but is still entertaining in its own right and is portrayed by a stronger cast. Wesley Snipes is Wesley Snipes, brilliant. Behind him, Ron Perlman stands out. I didn't know Norman Reedus was in this, love him in 'The Walking Dead' - he elevates an otherwise forgettable character. Another favourite of mine is here too, as Matt Schulze of 'The Fast and the Furious' fame appears. I also recognised Karel Roden, who distractingly has his lines dubbed by a British actor - very odd! Lastly, I have to commend the special effects. The majority of which is admittedly as passable as was the case for 'Blade', but the new addition of that effect for the reaper mouths is outstanding - it genuinely still holds up to today. Very impressive.
One of the best sequels ever!
At the risk of being accused of heresy and being burned at the stake, I find Blade 2 a better movie than the first (kinda like Mad Max and Alien). Too bad they never made a third movie.

If you gotta rely on your lead's star power you at least make sure they are in every scene and story revolves around them (like the first movie) GDT does a good job w directing but this one is a miss.
I love this action film. Good plot too.
Great sequel that displays a different direction that is very enjoyable to watch.
Even though the sequel to 1998's Blade slightly edges its predecessor, the film's plot still underwhelmed and its characters lacked any opportunities to develop nor shine.
Over 20 years later and serves as one of the most fun, sequels for comic book films This was the second dvd I ever purchased too This introduced me to the comics character and Wesley Snipes as a mainstream actor It also revived Guillermo del Toro's directing career after Mimic flopped; you can see his passion for comics and monsters throughout Picking up a few months after the original Blade is searching for his mentor Whistler after he was supposedly killed by vampires He manages to track him down saving him from turning and Blade has a new hideout along with his new partner Scud Then he discovers a new strain of vampires are loose on the streets; The Reapers who are like crack addicts and will infect everyone in a matter of weeks feeding on not just humans but vampires as well Their leader is Jared Nomak so Blade will need the help of old enemies known as the Bloodpack whom have trained to take him out But a deeper conspiracy is revealed as Blade tries to wipe out this ravenous group of Reapers This is just as fun as the first movie with incredible action scenes, creative vampire designs with the Reapers, and a cool soundtrack My first introduction to Ron Perlman and Norman Reedus too Some of the CGI is quite noticeable and it is derivative in spots I remember playing the video game on my ps2, it was fun and short Still crazy this came out 2 months before Spider-Man and thankfully paved the way for the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe even 'Twilight' It's a shame Snipes faced so many legal troubles with tax evasion and Blade 3 was a disaster during production But Blade 2 made Wesley Snipes huge in his career at the time with del Toro showing his craft for creatures and action
This is so much better than the first thank you Guillermo del Toro
young daryl dixon is in this
Guillermo del Toro gives the franchise exactly what it needed, a clearer sense of it's world and fantastic make-up effects while still delivering absurd violence and action.
filme bacaninha, o roteiro do blade 2 é igual ao do 1, só que desta vez o vilão é mais fraco.
