Bones and All Reviews
It's a most human story. It's all about the struggle and it isn't pretty
Very different, more about an unconventional relationship brought about a common bond.
Totally not expected, a little drawn out, still an awesome love story.
Aside from the overt love story wrapped in horror and gore, the movie also illustrated the importance of following your intuition when a person doesn't seem quite right (as in Sully's character).
First my man Luca G. imitates 70s editing with Suspiria, now he's moved to imitating the 80s. I could never be more happy. Guadagnino is seriously one of my favorite directors working today, and this movie solidifies him as one of the most diverse as well. Road Trip movies have been dead since the mid 2010s, and it's pretty easy to see why. They mostly feature inexperienced (or negligent) directors who don't have enough creativity to keep the shot composition from looking stale as hell. Granted, a hard thing to do when a lot of your movie is in a car. Another problem is structure. When your movie has a built in road map and the goal of the movie is to get to point B, it's easy to feel like the movie isn't going anywhere unexpected. But Luca G. doesn't give a shit about your goddang genre conventions. Every shot look fresh and distinct, not just in terms of composition, but also in terms of setting. The main characters go to some of the most ugly, lame, boring states in America, and somehow they all feel distinct and beautiful in their own separate way. The script constantly keeps you guessing, to the point where I was terrified and ecstatic to see what the next scene had in store for me. Timmy-chan was incredible as always. His character was definitely a slow burn, but once it gets to the scene that ties his character up... Wow. The female lead (sorry I don't know her name) was also fantastic. She feels like a wounded animal, and a hungry predator but the more you read into her performance, it becomes more obvious that she's just a girl trying to figure her shit out. There are moments in this movie that would feel laughable and cringe if done by a less convincing performer. Case in point, Timmy-chan's sister. You ever see a performance so bad that you wonder if their character is supposed to be mentally handicapped? I don't know why Anna Cobb was allowed to give a performance this bad. I did not believe a single word her character was saying, and she almost ruined every scene she was in. But aside from that, everything was incredible. This is one of my favorite Guadagnino joints, and I'm so excited to see it in theaters again.
This movie was overall one of the best pictures, due to it's graphic nature i dont recommend to anyone who is sensitive to gore. Other than that, I enjoyed the story line and the portrayal of characters. The acting was some of the best I have seen.
Looks good and pacing is decent but overall it doesnt really work. Trying to be a young adult romance movie mixed with them being cannibals doesnt work. How can you get over the fact the main character eats an old lady? Wtf no! The movie lost people right there. I dont care that shes young and finding herself and blah blah blah. No.
don't get it twisted, chalameh is still a mediocre actor
Bit if an odd movie and there were a few places I felt the plot was lost a bit.
Perfect mix of romance, suspense and amazing cinematography. Storytelling was a little weak for a few characters but it was overall a 9/10. Easily a top 5 film for me
Wow. This movie was stunning. Gory but heartfelt and also weirdly relatable. Cinematography was just amazing.
I loved this movie. I found the characters engaging and relatable (dispute the cannibalism thing). I thought the romance was very touching. The romance angle aside there really isnt anything like this movie that I can think of. We really need more original and creative films like this, even if its based on a book. Same thing. I really dug how different it was. Sadly it doesnt seem like many people are seeing it as me and my wife were the only people in the theater. Well people complain there isnt enough original content in movies anymore, no there is and people dont show up for it. Rant aside I loved this movie and definitely recommend it if you dont mind some graphic violence as its about cannibalism so they dont hold back.
The story line was a mess. The interesting parts of the movie were kept short.
I thought from the written overview that this was a romance/drama. But this was a horror movie. I couldnt take it - I left about 20 minutes into the movie. If I had watched the trailer, I might have had a clue.
Really Good movie about romance and coming to terms with who you are and each other!!!This could have been anyone's story for real but this was with a twist.Budding romance with some gory action!!Pretty Good in MY opinion!!!
Nothing like I expected
It wasn’t a bad movie but I can’t put it in my good category it didn’t have enough eating scenes and not no one got all of their fleas and bones eaten it was mainly romance
stunning, moving metaphor for addiction
I... think I liked it...it was simultaneously boring yet engaging and enthralling. Like, I wanted it to end but never end. It had an overall atmosphere that I think will stick with me for a while, however, the main cast was hard to feel for, though the end still felt sufficient? Yeah, I'm torn. Again, I think I liked it?
Timothee Chalamet is a favorite actor of mine and I was not going to miss this movie. loved it
