Brick Mansions Reviews
The script was weak as water, and some character arcs felt forced. Sometimes David Belle gives a good line delivery and Paul Walker does some flawless parkour tricks and sometimes RZA delivered some fun. However, the plot is just messy.
10 years later I still standby my statement that is is probably Paul Walker worst film and sad to say it had to be his last film........
Rock on! Action genre fans: non-stop top-notch action with a simple (unrealistic) storyline but that's all you'd want from an action movie, and the action includes lots of martial arts, plus a twist and surprisingly meaningful ending!
For me it's enjoyable good and satisfying movie i watched it so many times doesn't get old.
Nothing special compared to the original.
action is good, Paul Walker does what he has to do and David Belle is back in action as Lino, but the movie never gets up to par with the original Banlieu 13. So you truly wanna see the best then go see the 2 orginals
Movie is below average, but is still really fun for fans of walker. Good parkour and OK chemistry between leads provides enough to be satisfied. Walker has a hilarious scene with a giant guy and some good driving scenes. All in all, not as bad as people say. Rip Paul. 6.0/10
Terrible story and worse acting. Unfortunate because I really like Paul walker
I cannot believe that the overall rating on rotten tomatoes is like 26% for this movie! Lol that is crazy the action in this movie is fantastic! great car action! great shoot him up gun action! Anything with Paul Walker is fabulous pretty much I will no longer rate anything on rotten tomatoes because they don't know what they're talking about
This movie has some plot holes but over all a good movie i love the parkour and way they truly Incorporate what parkour is about
This is a remake of the 2004 French film District 13, in which Belle had also starred. Tony Scott of NT Times nails it: "Brawny, dumb and preposterous, Brick Mansions nonetheless comes tantalizingly close to being a high-impact fable of race, class and real estate in a postindustrial, new-Gilded Age America." I have not seen District 13. Brick mansions comes across as classic Luc Besson scripting with action and surprises galore. if you like other Luc Besson crime-actioners, you will like this.
It erks me to no end that they changed Lito's name to Lino. B 13 was an amazingly fun French film on which this movie is based on. It is not worth your time, get the dubbed version of the original and you'll get a much more enjoyable experience.
Great story concept, poor execution and acting.
With respect to the departed Paul Walker, unfortunately the swan songs of many actors, whether their deaths were expected or not, usually are not their best films. "Brick Mansions" is not so different. It's another run-of-the-mill action movie that only has the notable poignancy of being Walker's final completed film.
This movie was never gonna be great, I think that can be agreed on, but in all honesty it does succeed in at least being quite entertaining. The story and script are obviously not the centre of the movie nor it's strong suits, having Paul Walker is a good addition and the reason anyone watched this I think however in the first place, not to mention he died before it's released. The only reason to watch this film at all is to have some decent mindless action with a few laughs, and at least the action is entertaining. Is it at all believable : no, and you don't have to watch more than the trailer to know that. It does at least keep you busy watching something while not needing to give all your attention, it can be fun to watch, but also some of the action is just super dumb and you kinda wonder why you bothered watching it at that moment. The end is predictable honestly and not a bad ending in any regard. Overall the movie doesn't actually seem low budget or anything of the sort, some of the bullet sounds and such are pretty fake but not awful, and there isn't a whole lot of gunshots anyways because most is hand to hand. So all in all ok movie to watch for mindless action and to see on of Walkers last films, not much for new story anywhere in it but does have a good uplifting ending.
