Confess, Fletch Reviews
CONFESS, FLETCH relies on Jon Hamm's always-welcome comedic chops, in this case generally of the mild-mannered, tongue-in-cheek variety. I can't compare it to the Chevy Chase originals, but it stands well enough on its own. The film is consistently amusing, in a decidedly understated way, but rarely funny, and amounts to little more than a charming if forgettable diversion.
Hamm is good, parallels with the original ok but it just drifted off - like the director left it to the AD for a while and popped in now and then.
Sophisticated modern noir with quirky and witty humour. It’s an unoriginal but fun mystery with plenty of red herrings, although the story is secondary to the charismatic Fletch. Great performance from Hamm who looks and acts the part perfectly and the supporting cast were also good. The ending was a bit cliché, but the comedy left me wanting for more.
Funny writing, loveable characters, great chemistry amongst all actors. What more do you want from a comedy.
I loved this movie so much. Jon Hamm was perfect and the writing was excellent. I love an actor who can pull off dry understated sarcasm and this movie has it from start-to-finish. The "bespoke" joke and the call-back to it later are so funny and well played that I was sitting in my office grinning like an idiot three days later when it I started thinking about it again.
Boring old boomer humor. The whole movie was cringe. Something my 70yo grandfather would enjoy though.
An unexpectedly excellent return of the sardonic investigative reporter, Fletch. Jon Hamm does an awesome job in the role, eschewing some of the over-the-top silliness for a more subdued hilarity. The story has plenty of twists and turns, and fits right in with the other two Chevy Chase films.
I can't believe that this movie got as many positive reviews as it did. It was an unbelievably stupid plot and ending. Hamm was better in the Fargo series, but this movie really didn't need any special acting skills. Nothing could have saved this movie.
Funny! Roy Wood, Jr is excellent. Even Taco Bennett is great in his role. And Jon Hamm pulls off Chevy Chase like no one else could.
Loved it. Hamm did a great job portraying Fletch.
A lot of fun. Hamm is perfectly cast (almost equaling Chase's take on the character) and it's really too bad that this movie was buried.
So charming and delightful! I want more, please!
Please make more of these. Jon Hamm nailed it as Fletch.
It was such a funny story. Jon Hamm did a great job. Cute twists, charming characters.
Its star is great but the script isn't much.
Great to see Jon Hamm's comedic chops and to see Roy Wood Jr grimace his way through a full length film, but the plot is thin and the writers were trying too hard with the jokes. Plus the female characters were much less fleshed out than the males.
Best Fetch yet. John Hamm and the rest of the cast make this sleeper worth watching. It is well written and Roy Wood Jr is very funny. Ayden Mayeri steels the show with her supporting role.
This was a really enjoyable and funny chapter in the Fletch saga. The cast is great, and Jon Hamm really does a great job with the character. Funny, great cast, and this movie delivers on everything it promises.
