Copshop Reviews

Toby Huss as unhinged hitman Anthony Lamb is the role people will remember, his psychotic comedic turn is one for the ages, and every moment he's on screen he brings out the film's bizarre potential.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 4, 2024

...a watchable yet erratic thriller that ultimately feels like it could (and should) have been seriously streamlined...

| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Feb 10, 2024

what a fun throwback movie. I smiled, I laughed, & I just sat there having the time of my life. It’s a bit overly long but they don’t make movies all too much like this one!

Copshop is relentlessly entertaining and has a breakout performance from Alexis Louder.

| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Oct 9, 2022

Pure paperback narrative, simplified psychology, feverish plot, projected on the screen with effective pragmatism and outstanding modesty. [Full review in Spanish]

| Original Score: 4/5 | May 23, 2022

High voltage action with certain old school flare, a wild, black-as-coal humor and that trademark pulp thriller essence… [Full review in Spanish]

| Original Score: 4/5 | May 20, 2022

A recognizable and entertaining cocktail with a lot of easy jokes, a good string of bullets and stereotypical characters who laugh at themselves. [Full review in Spanish]

Copshop is a distant relative of the ballets of violence Carnahan made his name with. Action-thriller enthusiasts may get something from it, however even in these trying times there are many better reasons to go to the cinema.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 3, 2022

The actor who routinely turns up in barrel-bottom aberrations like The Ugly Truth, Movie 43 and London Has Fallen has defied the odds by headlining a genuinely good film, one that puts his skills to sound use.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Dec 18, 2021

"Diehard" in a Nevada desert police station. Pretty fun, pretty funny. Morally fairly bankrupt, but, you know, on a Saturday night, who cares? You might care Sunday morning in church...

| Original Score: 3/5 | Oct 25, 2021

Two Joe Carnahan films in one year? How did we get so lucky?

| Original Score: B+ | Oct 15, 2021

The film borrows heavily from both Quentin Tarantino and the classic cinema that inspired him. But there's still plenty of fun to be found in Copshop's charismatic characters and bullet-spraying final showdown.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Oct 14, 2021

Copshop is a fantastic, entertaining-as-hell action movie. Definitely watch it if you can.

An amazingly action packed thriller with Alex Louder emerging as a true star.

| Original Score: 6/10 | Oct 4, 2021

Louder makes a great central figure, giving off prickly charisma. She never lets the more recognizable faces push her off the screen, but she also allows her co-stars, particularly Butler, space enough to make their own impressions.

This is dry humor and you don't want to chuckle, but can't help it.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Oct 1, 2021

This profanity-laced, blood-soaked homage to 70s crime flicks isn't going to make a lasting impact on the genre, but it'll satisfy low (emphasis on low) expectations.

| Sep 28, 2021

The main cast turns in strong performances, with Louder just as good as Butler. But it's a shame to see Copshop blow its lead. It needs about 15-20 minutes shaved off.

| Sep 24, 2021

A rumination on the relentless and remorseless nature of fate lightened with some wise-cracking oddballs.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Sep 24, 2021

Hard to find a lo-fi streaming thriller these days without Frank Grillo... With Grillo you get goofy, gonzo grit and a game go.
