Dark Harvest Reviews
Stunning move. Absolute Must See!
The “Hunger Games”-esque circumstance is self-contained illogically for the sake of narrative deliverance, being twistedly horrific and harrowing with predictable realization that chillingly adds more weight to the well-acted, resilient human central drama becoming the main embodiment over the slashing tendency, much to decent satisfaction. This horror film was directed by David Slade and is based on Norman Partridge's novel of the same name, starring Casey Likes, E'myri Crutchfield, and others. The film is set in the early 1960s and is about a group of young men (known as "Runs") in a rural and isolated town who are locked every year for three days without food or water before being released on Halloween night to hunt down the creature emitting from the cornfields. The winner is given cash and a fancy automobile to leave town on a countryside excursion. It is revealed that the winner never leaves the town, since the elite in charge of gifting automobiles and cash have him slain on the outskirts and transformed into a creature for the next Halloween. The film features a terrific, engaging story that includes a mystery. The actors are also honest in their performances. It moves fast and won't bore you.
Nothing says Halloween like a dark harvest Based on the book by Nick Patridge and directed by David Slade of ‘30 Days of Night’ fame In 1963 a small rural town is known for a dark legend of evil The legend of Sawtooth Jack is what brings these citizens together Before the clock strikes 12 everyone has to hunt down this monster before it reaches the church Richie is new in town and befriends movie patron Kelly The terror starts though as Sawtooth Jack starts to take over the corpse of a scarecrow going on a killing spree I just love how this is in a world where the supernatural is expected like a Halloween version of the Purge There’s plenty of gore and the creature itself is creative The love story I didn’t feel was organic enough and this could’ve wrapped up a lot sooner The ending was also a downer too Much is this is pretty clunky Still this is a different kind of Halloween tale dealing with how messed up its citizens can get caught up in its own madness
this was so unlike the book and the end was very unsatisfactory. do not recomend
Gives you the feeling of old horror films , has it’s moments , but worth the watch
Violenta, absurda, entretenida, pero no hay mucha lógica, que comedia más inesperada.
I watched until the end thinking it would get better or make sense. It didn't.
More of a ‘trick' than a ‘treat.' Dense as lead, covered in a sweet candy coating. Story so bad that I honestly think A.I. wrote it. Give me 80's cheese over something like this any day.
Let me start off with the fact that I loved this book. When I heard that they were doing a movie on it, I just hoped that they would do the book justice. Well, the movie turned out great. It is part outsiders mixed with demon scarecrow named Sawtooth Jack. He comes out every Halloween to terrorize the small town. He must be killed by one of the towns boys before he reaches the church by midnight or their crops won't grow well that year. The movie reels you in with atmosphere, action, gore and a good rendition of the book. The Sawtooth Jack creature is well done too.
Any creativity is obliterated by lazy plot holes, over the top tropes, bad acting, and poor costume design.
It was ok. A pumpkin 🎃 head rip off though!
I’m pretty sure this movie knows how insane it is. Given that self-awareness, it’s a fun, funny, and satisfyingly (for fans of the genre) bloody ride. Stylish in terms of cinematography and effects too. Some horror movies are brilliant examinations of the human condition. Some horror movies are so bad they’re fun to watch. Some horror movies are just plain boring. And some horror movies, like this one, exist to keep us entertained and full of popcorn for a few hours. I was both, so, an even three stars it is.
Good monster, good kills, good concept. Bad writing, bad acting. Entertaining enough. Watch it for the Misfits references.
Dumb af ending… wow.
Don't get it twisted, this is not a good movie, but it was entertaining. It did not feel like the production team had a lot to work with, but still produced something worth turning on and finishing. I might suggest a friend watch it, if they are really lacking in content, but it would not be my first choice.
So original & brilliantly directed. I was sincerely impressed start to finish!
This genuinely might be my new favorite horror movie.
i'm torn. i did really like the concept & it's visually appealing - love the over-the-top slasher/gore. but i did not love the over-the-top acting/accents/dialog. it took me out of it. the only bearable character was the monster. but overall, it's not a bad watch.
Beyond stupid. Bad acting, bad writing. You will roll your eyes perpetually
