Lazy writing, a verbatim remake script with a twist ending and an unnecessary subplot involving Dr. and Marjorie Houseman plague this television film. If you desire to watch it please only focus on Katey Sagal's Vivian Pressman.

Save yourself the time and skip this movie. This was a career mistake for the actors who decided to proceed with this film. It basically follows the first movie but worse. If you're going to remake a classic then at least improve it or add to it? The dialogue, music, and dancing are atrocious. None of these actors seem to fit with the characters the way they did in the first film. It looks like they randomly grabbed people and assigned them to whatever. Also the remake of the music was a big no.

This is a remake of the original dirty dancing except it has better music. There's some better dancing too. My main issue with this movie is that the two main characters in my opinion don't mesh well together. They don't have good chemistry at all. Other then that I like the added scenes that were not in the original.

The dancing is uninspiring but most of the updates work really well.

If you're thinking of watching the new Dirty Dancing... Don't. Warning: Spoilers The original should have NEVER been remade, it is perfect the way it is. The cast was horrible. The new actors do not have the same vibes at all. Abigail as baby...? Colt Prattes as Johnny? No. Patrick and Jennifer didn't get along IRL, and they had so much charisma! I didn't like most of the cast, but I didn't hate Sarah as Lisa. Although, I think Sarah should have been a bit dorkier. I like that Sarah had her own happy ending, but they shouldn't have changed the plot. There is way too much going on. First off, Colt was and never will be, a good Johnny. Johnny has this... Vibe. The bad boy that takes care of Baby and changes for her heart. Colt didn't have any of that energy, and neither did Abigail. Baby is meant to be an innocent, dorky, next-door-neighbor kind of girl. Do you know what I mean? Abigail seemed awkward, didn't know how to act, or dance. I know, Baby didn't know how to dance in the beginning. But the new baby didn't know how to dance in the end either. I'll give Abigail some credit, the lift is NOT as easy as it looks. So, I can understand the struggle... As awkward as it was to watch. However, I don't know what went wrong with Colt. He has a physique that could potentially help dancing as Patrick did. Yet, it was.. Difficult to watch. I was hoping the end dance was good, but it failed. When I heard Mrs. Houseman say, "Did you know she could do that?" I was trying to figure out what she could do now, that she couldn't at the beginning. The original Dirty Dancing... Perfection. They shouldn't have brought it down so low. The best thing about the new Dirty Dancing, is that it shows how amazing the original is. I don't know if choosing Abigail was a great choice for this movie. I like her, but this type of dancing does require a certain body type (most of the time), just like most sports or dances. Baby's father seemed way too cold, even when he was being nice. He didn't seem like he had this special bond like in the original. Max and Neil were all wrong. Neil was too likable, Max's two-faced personality wasn't there. When all hope was lost, we relied on the ending. But, it didn't come through. BABY AND JOHNNY DON'T EVEN END UP TOGETHER. The ending took it away from our imaginations to believe they did! Happily ever after was thrown out the window. Baby gets married, has a kid, and meets Johnny again with it all right in front of his face. A total disappointment, and a waste of time.

Awful remake , bad choice of actors complete change of character & story line for Lisa Housman .baby dances like a dumpy hunchback and there's weird miming going on throughout one of the worst remakes I've ever seen

I know this is from 2017 but I guess I missed the memo on this remake. After watching it, I can see why. No chemistry, all the dancing was clunky, just bad... The best part was the duet between Marco and Lisa! Keep this remake, I'll stick to the original.

Was amateurish . Baby was too heavy for that role. Unbelievable . Johnny was ok! Actually liked his dancing though could never bring drinks of water to Patrick Swayzes Johnny.Music was great.

There are so many things 'wrong" with this movie that I hardly know where to begin. Basically it's a mixed- up sanitized version of the 1987 classic. I can't even fathom why they would attempt to remake such a wonderful film, but unfortunately they did. Here we have the obligatory singing, dancing and acting, all of which leave a lot to be desired. The cast is mediocre and the dancing is even worse. They couldn't even bother with using the original songs. Most are covers, but be prepared for the cast to start singing the lyrics without warning. Abigail Bresslin is cute and all, but she cannot dance to save her life. Her dancing in "Little Miss Sunshine was so much better. Colt Prattes (whom I'd never heard of before) can dance, but the combination of talent versus no talent made his scenes with Abigail look ridiculous. They had absolutely NO chemistry and were almost painful to watch. I am pretty sure that Abigail was chosen for the role solely because of her popularity. This movie might-and I stress the word "might" have been better had they flipped angles and told it from Johnny's POV. Sure, it still wouldn't have any of the charm of the original, but at least it wouldn't seem like it's trying really hard to be a copy. This version, simply put, has no heart and soul. I can just see Patrick Swayze cringing in heaven.

Omg it's just so bad 😭 I was looking for any small chance of liking this remake. But wow. It was just awful.

Horrible horrible movie! The cast is terrible. Baby does not know how to dance and looks terrible. Johnny has no charisma at all! Far too long. Boring, cringy movie. This has to be the worst movie EVER!!!

Colt Prattes as Johnny is still a fantastic dancer and he's quite good looking too. Abigail Breslin as Baby gives hope to all of us curvy gals!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and the new music arrangements are beautiful. I'll watch this movie over and over for just the new versions of "Hungry Eyes" and "She's Like the Wind" alone!!!

This remake was a study in what not to do. They took the heart out of the story and felt the need to wrap it up in a tidy package at the end. Where was the conflict? Where was the real emotion? And sadly, where was the choreographer? All the music from the original was there (plus a few songs that felt like filler) but the dancing seemed almost childish at times. Worst of all, the big climactic angel lift was shot from only the front and definitely made you question if there were wires involved. This should have been a hallmark movie.

I feel like someone other than Abigail Breslin would of been a better fit. The movie was good for nostalgic reasons, but they didn't come close to the original.

I LOVED IT!! Colt can really sing and dance. Its not the same without Patrick but its still amazing!!

Jul 7, 2019

Ouch - that was actually painful. No chemistry and certainly no dirty danciing in sight

Entsetzlich.
