Emily Reviews
An absolutely beautiful movie!
Not a bad movie but it doesnt do much. They took pieces we know of Emily and created a fiction story that doesnt offer an excuse for this movie to really exist. Its not exactly a fun ride to excuse the pointlessness either. Youre left with a movie that didnt do much while watching it or afterwards, if you can even remember you watched it.
Nonstop maximum overwrought.
So imaginative! Grateful that it was created.
thoughtful, moody, dark - a little slow, but definitely watchable
gorgeous photography, excellent performances, edited so it never/ever got boring like so many self-indulgent films these days get - by big time talents who should know better. And the sound design, elegant and perfect, with music as well as effects that only heightened the tension in scenes so beautifully conveyed with silent visuals of actors of great talent. First rate all around!
It was nice watching a movie based on a famous novel versus the senseless brainless scripted violent movie Hollywood is pushing.
A well-told, romantic story. Fine acting and splendid photography.
I'm a Bronte need so of course I liked it. I wish that she really experienced love like that. I think the actor who played her was good but too beautiful to portray her.
Loved it! I was totally involved in the plot for the whole 2 hour movie. Really felt liked we got to know the real story behind these famous women authors
Besides good entertainment, it was a great learning experience about the Bronte family, and life at that time. Beautiful cinematography too.
Would have liked if the story were a bit more historically correct (she did not have a love affair with a Priest). Was slow moving the first 45 minutes which is not insignificant as a flaw.
Did not like this movie @ all, a little confusing with the storyline....Thumbs down
Amazing soundtrack and beautiful film. It has s beautiful and inspirational feeling to it. I guess its more fiction than fact but it is an interesting take on the possible origins of the wild and dangerous story that is Wuthering Heights.
Emma Mackey’s acting is stellar, whether with dialogue or without. She has an extraordinary talent to tell a multi-layered story with her face alone. Emma will be a major star very soon. Fionn Whitehead also helps to carry the film. Unfortunately, the to-often nonsensical directing results in a choppy, over-emoted story. It tries too hard, much too hard. Contributing to this unnecessary messiness is a musical score that is over-bearing and often incongruent with the scene. Close your eyes and you might think the music & sound effects were for a Marvel movie fight scene. Yuck. Because the Brontë sisters contribution to literature is so very important, I won’t say pass on this movie. But, I will say go with modest expectations.
I was captivated and felt a connection to Emily.💕
Loved the story and the actors were fantastic !
Wonderful! Music was brilliant!
Acting was excellent. A good rendering of a very intense subject.
I felt the movie negatively portrayed, Emily Bront. Sex scene was comfortable to watch.
