On paper it sounds quite good and... I had high expectations for it, something that surely has influenced how it ended up being such a huge disappointment. [Full Review in Spanish]

They tried to create something with a deeper story focusing on the survivors, while also updating the zombies into something more terrifying. Unfortunately, it just fell a bit flat.

| Original Score: 5/10 | Nov 2, 2018

Extinction has an interesting spin on the zombies themselves and does a good job of featuring two very different ways to live out the zombie apocalypse, but ultimately adds little life to the subgenre.

| Aug 21, 2018

he thrills are basically relegated to the beginning and the end of the film, but in between, the story manages to craft genuine drama and emotional ties.

| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Sep 16, 2015

Its narrative leans toward the untenable side of melodrama and pushes viewers away when it should be pulling them in for a suspenseful finale.

| Original Score: C | Aug 5, 2015

"Extinction" is far from a horror masterpiece and doesn't really bring anything entirely new to the genre, but it's a solid zombie survival flick that takes its characters seriously and doesn't condescend to the audience.

| Original Score: B+ | Jul 31, 2015

"The Walking Dead" must really be leaving its mark on the entire zombie subgenre.

| Jul 30, 2015

Vivas tries to add a family-drama twist to an otherwise standard survival story, but the characters aren't complex enough (and the secrets aren't explosive enough) to elevate this beyond a basic zombie flick.

| Original Score: C | Jul 30, 2015

[After an interesting first half, Extinction] consumes its own brains and becomes another mindless creature feature.

| Jul 29, 2015

The film's core problems: too little zombie and too much plot.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Jul 29, 2015

It very much feels like it's trying too hard to be a grand and serious work while at the same time using some of the most hoary and overripe tropes of the genre to make its points.
