Field of Dreams Reviews
This is still probably my favorite movie of all time after seeing it over 30 years ago. A lesson in the value of having faith and valuing family along with paying a homage to baseball when it truly was Americas pastime, it is sentimental nonsense in the best way, as Ray says to Terrence Mann when returning back to Iowa to after picking up Moonlight Graham, "It's Perfect!"
Although not quite one of favorite movies, it always tugs at the heart strings. The way the story slowly builds up making you wonder what is going to happen next. So many lovely scenes, Ray Liotta turning up in the field, Kevin going to find Earl Jones of all actors, then Burt Lancaster has a delightful cameo with a twist. It just all 'clicks' together like a beautiful jigsaw. I am no baseball fan but the concept of trusting that voice in your head rings true every time I watch this movie. And then the ending - well get the hankies out. Such a simple film earnestly acted by all. Some may find it boring but I never will as you are left wondering 'is this heaven? Or are we in Iowa?'
With such an unusual premise, Field of Dreams only works because of the earnest and convincing performances of everyone involved.
Yes wonderful movie about a father getting to spend time with his son, ending, during and there's even baseball mixed in.
There was scene in the film that caught me off gaurd for a fantasy sports drama. Overall, good movie
It's been referred to as "The Notebook for guys". The concept is wacky in the most beautiful way possible, the score is marvelous, and the writing and acting is clever, hilarious, and will raise the hair on your arms. Rest in eternal peace in the cornfields, Ray and James...
Didn’t capture my attention
My generation’s It’s a Wonderful Life. It’s one of my five favorite movies, if not my favorite!
Not as in love with it like everyone else, but still an enjoyable baseball flick
I have seen this film possibly as much as ten times, and because of my own recollections of "having a catch with my father" back in the late 1960's, I always wonder if the next viewing will be the one where I can watch it with dry eyes. I'm good until John Kinsella takes his catcher's mask off- and then the waterworks start every time. This has to be one of my 12 favorite films of all time.
Fantastic movie even though I don't like baseball. Unique storyline that was worth telling.
It was a great Father's Day movie. It was treat watch it with my adult son, who had never seen it.
They don't make movies like this anymore. My grandparents took me to see this when it was new, and it was really nice to be able to take my son to see it.
For a baseball fan, this has to be one of those must see. It hits all the right aspects of a great film: story, acting, soundtrack - it’s a wonderfully told original tale - it’s absolutely perfect and as they actually have a physical field of dreams to go visit, and MLB has actually played there - how can it not be the Mecca of baseball films?
Just a great film that ages like fine wine. Perfect casting. Perfect writing, and a mystical story that fills the heart with hope and love. Everything is just right and I enjoyed watching every minute just like the day I saw it in the theater 35 years ago. I truly hope there is A Heaven like the one shown here as it brings tears to my eyes see this father son relationship that mirrored me and my father. I never did get to play ball with my Dad he died in Vietnam but I hope...I truly hope I get to see him and play catch one day just like in the movie 🍿
Never disappointed re-watching this one. An avid baseball fan, I'd read the book some time before the '89 release and it's been a favorite since. If you're the kind of movie fan I am, you want to be wide-eyed with a smile on your face and immersed in the story. Kinsella has a great story here, translated with a deft touch and delivering a few powerful emotional truths by the ending. These days we crave all of this sort of sustenance we can find.
My favorite movie of all time
The best movie ever made!
One of my favorite movies ever
Hermosa película, baseball y fantasía unidos para una emocionante historia de redención, baseball y reencuentro, una de las películas con las que mas lloré.
