Hacksaw Ridge Reviews
Hacksaw Ridge is a remarkable film. Based on a true story, it chronicles the incredible and extraordinarily brave exploits of Desmond Doss during the Battle of Okinawa. The battle scenes are the most realistic depictions of war I've ever seen. They are visceral, hard-hitting, gory, and wrought with tension.
The film was very moving and remarkable, showing incredible learning for all people who were really interested in that film model and the practice of the Christian faith. It truly deserved the best film award.
Esse é o melhor filme que assistir sobre Guerra, Fé e Fatos Reais, me surpreendeu!
There's nothing really to complain about. Mel Gibson and Andrew Garfield did great job. Towards the beginning I thought It was possibly going to be more of a cringy film. Although, it wasn't. Good message, great film.
Its in the top 10 movies ever
Man. First I gotta say, that someone went through this or anything similar to this is just baffling. What a hero. Now the meat and potatoes. This is a well told story of a many who by any measure shouldve quit. When you hear about the kind of person the Doss was, we have a hard time believing they could exist. Its a rare find to see someone who stands by their morals until the very end. The depictions of a man who knew his worth and knew his faith, was beautiful. Something about the movie absolutely made it feel much longer than its run time and I cant put my finger on it entirely, because I was captivated for the entire time. None the less this movie is definitely worth at least one watch. If you need to root for someone, Doss is worth your shout.
Excellent war film. Rating: 8/10
Very powerful movie, especially since it is based on a true story. Tugs all the right emotional strings. A bit over the top with the sentimentality, but it is done to punch up the film's impact. War scenes are super gory and impactful. I am not a fan of war movies or the sentimentality, but this is well done.
Desmond doss was a truly incredible man and Andrew Garfield's portrayal was perfect. The combat is truly breathtaking and there were many scenes where it felt as though i was holding my breath. Perfect film.
Masterpiece. But, they should have gone into greater detail about the unit Doss was a part of.
This is a great story, very uplifting and the actual real life people talking at the end really sells the based on true events label. Here is my criticism the writing made the characters speak as if it was modern day at times. I was never sold on this being the 1940’s, it felt like millennials who time traveled to the 1940’s. Good movie but it’s held back by its flaws.
Watching this movie was an incredible experience—I loved every second of it. It was deeply emotional, truly inspirational, and completely redefined the idea of what a man should be. At first, it seems like a story about fighting, but it becomes so much more. The film beautifully illustrates that true strength isn’t just about combat; it's about kindness, selflessness, and the will to help others. Even when the world stood against him, he held onto his beliefs and made the best of every situation. He didn’t just become a hero—he became a real hero. Not someone defined by a cape or superpowers, but by his unwavering commitment to saving lives, even those of his enemies. He embodies what it truly means to be human.
It is not bad, but the introduction was unnecessarily long and there were some very hollywood scenes.
Best movie I have ever seen I watched Hacksaw Ridge for the first time last night, and I can’t stop thinking about it. Andrew Garfield’s performance as Desmond Doss was incredible he brought so much heart and conviction to the role, making Doss’s story even more powerful. The film’s depiction of war was intense and brutally realistic, but it never lost sight of its emotional core. Seeing Doss stick to his principles and save so many lives without ever firing a weapon was inspiring. The cinematography, direction, and score all came together to make this a gripping, unforgettable experience. This is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates powerful storytelling, history, or war films.
I know im late but I enjoyed this movie good story good action he earn they respect the way he wanted it to be earned by showing them he can save them without violence
Amazing movie. One of the best war dramas out there with such an incredible, compelling story. Andrew Garfield played the role beautifully
