Halloween Ends Reviews
Halloween Ends is a Halloween movie that doesn’t seem to want to be a Halloween movie, and suffers all the more for it.

Awful.

While Halloween Ends does provide something close to the catharsis that long-time fans of the franchise may be seeking, it does it in a manner that still feels a tiny bit lacking.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Sep 18, 2024
It is the horror equivalent of a 70s sitcom relying on misunderstandings to move the plot back to Laurie and Mike instead of sticking to the film that they wanted to make: Corey, the Son of Michael Myers.

Some of it is gory; the opening is good. None of it is scary. Worse, none of it has any tension whatsoever.

It aims more for a psychological angle within a slasher, rather than another hack and slash, and I appreciate it for that.

It is fun to see Curtis do her feisty grandmother act flinging refrigerators about with vim and vigour, but otherwise this end to the trilogy is quite dreadful.

Myers is the walking embodiment of evil. If the repeated message in Halloween Kills wasn’t enough to get that across, then the script of Halloween Ends hammers it home.

It may disappoint some viewers, but it is making something more interesting from what was already a tired franchise. I know which kind of sequel I prefer to see.

It's a thriller baked in history and nostalgia, standing on its own two feet.

disappointed by this brand new trilogy… The opening scene sets up some great ideas but within 40 minutes loses a lot of its lusters with its lack of tension… semi cool kills, great performances, but an unearned idea left me frustrated with choices

Halloween Ends will scratch the slasher itch for some. If you want gruesome kills, Halloween Ends has that. If you were hoping for a more meaningful end to a 40+ year franchise, you should probably look elsewhere.

Ignoring the bigger picture, Halloween Ends is ultimately a horror movie, and it works as one. Though it doesn't have quite as many kills as last year's Halloween Kills, it's gory and gruesome.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 24, 2023
Halloween Ends is one of the best movies of the year and one of the best horror movies of the year.
| Original Score: 5/5 | Jul 20, 2023
Perhaps the fatigue of the series is finally rearing its ugly head at the (alleged) finish line?
| Original Score: 2/4 | Jul 16, 2023
Halloween Ends is a greatly dissatisfying close to a chapter that hopefully lives up to its name, and this sluggish culmination does exactly what the title declares: ends Halloween.
| Original Score: 5/10 | Feb 23, 2023
Bad guy kills people; bad guy is killed. How can you mess it up? Halloween Ends is about finding complicated ways to fail at this simple, elegant, beloved formula.

David Gordon Green's finale lacked cohesion and direction, framing it as a trilogy letdown instead of placing a nice, bloody stamp mark on it.
| Original Score: C- | Feb 9, 2023
Forget the discourse. David Gordon Green's Halloween Ends is so good that it doesn't just deliver a great finale; it even makes prior films better.
| Jan 9, 2023
HALLOWEEN ENDS is a successful end to the David Gordon Green Halloween trilogy that puts the focus squarely where it belongs – on Laurie Strode and her surviving family.
