Havoc Reviews
I liked Tom Hardys' character but the movie was a bit painfull to watch. I found myself fast forwarding through many of the fight scenes. (most of the movie). Plenty of blood and guts and gore but no substance to the movie. the movie focused on the bloodshed and sacrificed a plot to do it.
Dreadful CGI graphics and ridiculous guns that carry more bullets than an F16...... big names, poor film...
After watching Mobland series with Tom Hardy , Bronson and Helen Mirren was looking forward to Havoc but bitterly disappointed, every aspect over the top , turned it off 20 minutes in .
Part video game, part John Wick (impossible killings and tons of blood), part The Batman (Gotham city vibes and theeee daaaaark), part Tarantino (The Yakuza and again impossible killings and blood), part Tyler Rake. Batshit crazy total massacre movie but somehow Tom Hardy as always delivers, and and so even the unlikely and a bit stereotypical rookie-sidekick Jessie Mei Lei. Not bad.
The Raid was good but not this, that kinda style doesn't work in this setting, I'd like to see more weapon reloads and less CGI because it got a bit ridiculous at times (very hard to ignore). I also think the whole of Asia is the target audience for these movies so trying to reach English-speaking countries and European audiences is not a great idea. For example, India loves slow-mo and ridiculous fighting scenes but it just looks tacky to everyone else. But if you like 600 Asian boys that can't hit anything diving to their deaths then go ahead.
I had high hopes because Tony Hardy was in it. I thought he was more selective with the characters and scripts he chose. This was just so over the top cheesy (maybe it was supposed to be?) between the ridiculous driving scenes to humans taking on bullet after bullet and just keep going like nothing is astounding. Let’s not forget the how fake the snow was. I mean, did they even try? Sad.
Plenty of action makes up for a lousy story. It's to cheesy and and over used. Tim Treakle
I think the movie overall had tons of issues. Not to say it was unwatchable or anything. I think Tom Hardy and Timothy Olyphant are solid actors who help the movie. But the overuse of pretty poor CGI in pretty much every driving scene was just bad. The actions scenes were pretty good though. Also the fighting and the violence was pretty solid. So if you can just shut that noggin off and enjoy the ride I'd recommend it. If you can't and inconsistencies in plot drives you mad I'd avoid it.
What you get is what you have expected, nothing more, nothing less. However it is always a pleasure to watch Tom Hardy. A classic action flick.
This is a good movie and anybody saying that it isnt yall know ntg about acting.. This is one of tom best movie.. for the ones that want to see reviews before watching.. i totally recommend it, that is if you are into action movies like myself if u wanna see real action just watch it ..infact any of tom movie is FRICKN highly recommended
Decent action scenes and gory deaths…not one to watch again and again but well worth it for a one off.
Crime-fighting worldwide!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL, ROFL, & YOLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The film is too hectic for me and lacks atmosphere but the film has a hard pace and the film really gets to the point
A tenuous and cliche ridden story pumped up to fever pitch with half the film consisting of balletic, violent fight sequences that technically scream "look at me!". But for all that (or because of it) the film lacks emotional engagement and gravitas...
Tom Hardy is a phenomenal actor, but unfortunately the writing on this film was really bad. Plus the use of shaky-cam made all the fight and action scenes a nausea inducing mess.
I had look forward to this movie for a long time only to be overall disappointed. The opening chase scene was pretty cool, enjoyed the music use however I expected more. It all just became a little boring and generic by the end.
Unrelenting video game action. Almost everyone dies.
This was a complete disappointment! Couldn’t make it through the entire movie. They did a big disservice to TH and Forrest Whitaker. Cheesy 90’s storyline, unlimited ammo fight scenes, unnaturally large amounts of blood spatter. It was like they took cgi technology notes from the era when movie 300 came out. Another disappointment was the physics behind the AI generated vehicle scenes that gave a Sharknado-like vibe. I mean come on! Felt like there was no quality control implemented during production. The only reason I even gave it 1 1/2 stars is for the fact that, if you were so bored, nothing on tv, it would be some good white noise in the background while cleaning your house or something.
Very complicated, but I will try to summarise: (dont worry, no spoilers as no real plot so far as I could work out). Basic premise was Tom Hardy's character wrinkling his brow a lot to emphasise his gritty earnrstness, and the incessant discharge of an improbable number of bullets from guns that would probably need reloading much more more regularly than they were. Shame given the cast and evident budget involved.
