Hellboy Reviews
The story was convoluted, and the visuals fell flat at times, but I had so much fun watching this movie. There were so many times when I was dying laughing because of how fun it was. Don't watch this movie if you want to see a good movie, watch it just to have fun. I definitely recommend it for superhero and horror fans.
Just not a good film. None of the humor or one-liners land, the sound design is awful, and there's some really poor CGI in the back half that just really pulls you out of it. Mostly it is just tedious and boring. You couldn't pay me to see it again.
Honestly my favourite hellboy movie. Its fast paced, has tonnes of action, great fight scenes, and an interesting collective of characters. And unlike the original films, which I still love, isn't bogged down by romance plot lines. I go to my action movies to see violence and gore. The two main downsides I had were Alice's accent sounded really unnatural, it's distracting. And the movie did feel bloated, despite the pace, a LOT happens in this movie, and most of it is exposition, which usually happens when a series expects a franchise. I do think the story could have been reined in a bit!
I liked it. Pacing was good. Could have used a bit more back story but it worked. Visually awesome. I haven't read any of the comics but the script and acting and effects seem solid to me. Deserved a much better rating.
Good, on par with the original. Harbour makes a good Hellboy and the rest of the cast is pretty good. I enjoyed Hellboy not being a depressed, lovesick puppy. The plot is true to how comic plots were written (things just happen and they don't always seem connected until the final battle). This doesn't translate the best to film and the final act seems a bit rushed but the original had the exact same issues. Overall this is a good film with gory additions.
Errm, what's with all the hate for this? It's maybe not as endearing as the excellent original Hellboy or the immediate Golden Army sequel but it's still very enjoyable and the additional gore was a welcome switch up in my book. It's not as tonally consistent and is much gorier but then it is an 'R' and was clearly advertised as one so what's the problem everyone? I personally enjoyed this and found it truer to the dark source material. It's well worth a watch and in the absence of Pearlman, Harbour made a good Red. Much better than its made out to be.
Holly sh*t, this is incredible
Amei! Esse filme do Hellboy é o mais fiél raiz aos quadrinhos, AMO MUITO O HELLBOY e gostei muito desse filme!.
Good Hellboy movie. Better than Hellboy 2 Golden Army but not better than Hellboy 1.
It a fun to watch film I would be more intersting but bit fast paced but harbour jovokwich n other cast r great a timepass reboot 😃👊♥️
A true Magnola's & comic's Red !
I liked it, it was funny and campy and just fun !!
As a long-time fan of Del Toro's Hellboy series, I had some hope that this remake was going to be good. That hope was dashed the second I heard the needlessly snarky introductory narration, and it only got worse throughout the entirety of this gory, rushed, exposition-dumping mess of a film. This movie is to Hellboy as Morbius is to Marvel Studios: Lazy. If there is one good thing I can say, it is that David Harbor did a good job with what he was given. His take on Hellboy was different, and I think in a vaccum (and a better script) it would be good.
I'm so sorry, I want Guillermo del Toro’s #Hellboy3 only, @Netflix please make it happen.🙏🏽 #SaveHellboy3 #HellboyIII
This iteration of Hellboy attempts to present too much at once and at a blistering pace, one that cheapens many of the mythological references and supporting characters. For the uninitiated, this information overload can lead to disbelief and frustration, since the tempo is overreaching; overplaying its hand. The result is an audience who can’t connect to what is being presented; unable to appreciate the story being told (which, in this case, is Hellboy canon direct from the original comic book). If you can overlook the very common film industry mistakes that completely derail this film (Milla Jovovich’s horrible performance notwithstanding), you’ll see a charming and well performed protagonist, with his legendary wit and antics, surrounded by his supporting characters, having to face his fate. Pretty Metal.
This movie deserves to be in hell
I love it. Awesome fight screens. Awesome acting.
Very good movie, funny and terrible movie CGI was very good and fighters also too
Looks good, looks like Hellboy. Hellboy himself, the giants, the creatures, they fit in but everythings else just feels off. It never gets to the point where I thought "cool, this is a Hellboy movie". Casting is a bit issue in this, none of the actors feel like they are what they are supposed to be playing.
My friend and I watched this in theaters and thought it was so bad. To think that this got made instead of Hellboy 3 is just insane
