Unique, nutsy, desparate, surreal is life, especially when we start changing our character to match every scenario, becomes exhausting does it? Gets more extreme does it? Do you ever feel like you're being watched or simply to voyeur watching a life/style usually an exciting one. This is actually very "entertaining", though movie-people vs film-people will differ greatly (they want the simple answer presented by the end in crayon, & say: ohhh that's why haha, fart, go to bed) I can't understand bad reviews for this film. I'm a lover of a QUESTION MAKING film (as all answers people dogmatically give are bs), plus this challenges if we are doing vs watching/thinking only.

Felt obvious that this would be a Cannes critics favourite. It is batshit, dark, moody and stylish. It has something to say but it’s not altogether clear what. Mainly though, it just isn’t very entertaining or enjoyable to watch. Watched on DVD.

Una gran serie de metáforas, no muy claras, demaisado vagas. Por otro lado tiene una fantástica fotografía, con paidajes únicos de París, e historias interesantes, entretenidas y hasta divertidas, con buenos diálogo y reflexiones filosóficas. Una exploración del actor, a través de la vida cotidiana. Una reflexión sobre la realidad y el significado de la vida. Una película innovadora, poco convencional, pero igualmente difícil de entender y apreciar. No estoy seguro de haberla digerido bien. Ya la veré otra vez. Vale la pena. "¿Who are you?" Guy in a limo drives around and performs different roles around Paris. Not sure how they're connected. Not sure what the point was. Not worth trying to figure out, either.

Holy motors was a surreal experience, much different than anything else I’ve seen. Very original movie that I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys weird, foreign language films. Not quite 5 stars because it did drag on just a bit.

Twisted, in a good way.

It's a perfect visual, textural, emotional experience. Funny and evocative and great. What movies should be.

Weird. Sucks you in. Don't know that it's good but it is interesting

So this is supposedly an ode to cinema, and each vignette is done in a different style or genre. But, to be honest, I almost missed that while watching it, because it is just so completely bonkers. On the other hand, it doesn’t feel weird just for the sake of being weird. It is absolutely mad, but you have to admire Carax’ vision, and the ability (willingness?) of Denis Lavant to wholeheartedly inhabit that vision.

Weird enough for critics to like. But it's just too slow.

Watching Holy Wheels is like reading James Joyce's Ulysses – you have to struggle through it, absorb as much as is humanly possible, and then sort it out as best you can over the days that follow. Holy Rollers is like an acid-tinged joy ride through the streets of Paris, where you come to expect the unimaginable and are rarely disappointed. To discuss themes and messages (and even the plot, for that matter) is pointless as each viewer will draw different conclusions. Some will love it and others will dismiss it as pretentious garbage, but it is oddly riveting and visually compelling from start to finish. And, unlike any other film that has ever been made, it makes accordions seem uber cool.

"Deep" or "Artsy" movies can be amazing. I personally love the recent "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" which is an insane film in its own right. The difference is that at the end of that film, and at the end of many other films in its vein, you have at least some idea of what the story was. at least some idea to be left with pondering To try and grasp a full understanding, thinking hours after the credits roll. This? This is a f*cking nonsensical weird film that thinks strange and random is artsy. There's nothing to think about after. Just " what the hell did I watch?"

Per tutti quelli che sostengono di aver provato emozioni forti guardando questo film provo una strana sensazione di scetticismo e invidia. Per me, molto semplicemente, non ha funzionato. E' chiaramente un film anticonvenzionale, basato su stimoli più che su certezze, ma non c'è nessuna singola idea che abbia suscitato in me anche il più lieve interesse. L'ho trovata un'opera ambiziosa, fin troppo presuntuosa, un'esperienza che propone una forma di arte fine a sé stessa.

Weird ass movie. If you like bizarre films this one is for you.

Fun and funky film from Leos Carax. Denis Lavant does a great job in multiple roles (or is it just one role?). Worth checking out.

Vague but captivating. Repetitive but spontaneous. In my top 5.
