Horns Reviews

Horror and supernatural aficionados should seek a bloody fairytale elsewhere.

| Original Score: 2/4 | Jul 18, 2022

It was just two hours of non-stop action really.

| Original Score: 8/10 | Jun 1, 2021

Aja keeps the genre plates spinning gamely and it's great to see Radcliffe revelling in the chaos, excise Potter once for all and literally grow a pair.

| Original Score: 3/5 | May 26, 2021

The idea, I guess, is to present a story that defies any of its genre inspirations, but the result is an unholy mix; a lackluster fable that fails to mine the material for subtext or a moral, leaving the audience with very little sympathy for this devil.

| Original Score: 1.5/5 | Feb 2, 2021

Regardless of its sloppiness I did enjoy this movie and it isn't one of those movies I regret wasting my time to watch...

| Original Score: 5/10 | Nov 20, 2020

It deserved better luck than being relegated to oblivion. A shame. [Full Review in Spanish]

[A] decadent delight...multi-pronged, interwoven tapestry of Biblical allegory that pushes the boundaries to almost sacrilegious silliness, but then artfully reins itself in with the strength of performances, indelible visuals and pure unadulterated fun.

If you yearn for a horror film trying to offer something new, Horns will certainly keep your interest.

| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Aug 2, 2019

Horns finds its horror in (hyper) reality, and it's all the better for it.

| Original Score: 4/5 | May 31, 2019

Hill's story is actually a beautiful romance disguised as a horror-comedy. If you let it, Horns will grab hold of you.

| Original Score: 4/5 | May 5, 2019

If the fact that the film stars Harry Potter isn't enough for you (it was enough for me), then see it because it's a good story that is not only dark and ominous but also has some hilarity mixed in.

| Original Score: 8/10 | Nov 3, 2018

Radcliffe is amazing, and the film is worth the price of admission just for his performance. It's just unfortunate that the film around him is guilty of a bit of sloth.

| Original Score: 6/10 | Nov 2, 2018

Sadly the film's mélange of ingredients never quite come together, and whilst Aja constantly attempts to root Hill's novel in the present, Keith Bunin's screenplay is too anomalous to hold our attention.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Aug 13, 2018

Horns is best watched as a midnight movie, with your intoxicant of choice, and possibly as part of a marathon.

| May 21, 2018

Horns simply feels like a misfire that could have been an awesome mash-up of black comedy, sleuthing, and fantastical romantic drama, all with provocative commentary on religion and the never-ending discussion of good vs evil

| Original Score: 2/5 | Dec 2, 2017

It's not that there's no value to Horns, it's just that what value there is, is severely handicapped by a dumb script.

| Oct 18, 2017

No one's going to pretend that Horns lives up to its source material, or even achieves any tonal consistency.

| Aug 3, 2017

Ultimately, its best results are too few and far between - to which excuses for its tone and intent can only go so far.

| Original Score: C | Jun 23, 2016

At nearly two hours, "Horns" is about 30 minutes longer than it needs to be. But it's doubtful even a shorter version would cure what ails this film. Maybe you have to be tripped out on LSD to appreciate it.

Draws out a heretofore unseen compassion in Aja, who dials the grue way down and focuses on the terrific cast he's hired.
