Interceptor Reviews
The latest Netflix feature may be all kinds of impractical and over-the-top, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that every moment in this 96-minute runtime is downright entertaining.

“Interceptor” somehow manages to hold your attention. Lots of it has to do with Pataky who earns our sympathies. Not so much for the terrorist threat her character faces, but for the task she’s given of making a really sub-par script entertaining.

I hope Netflix gives Reilly the kind of budget for his sophomore effort so that he might be able to take the camera out into the wider world.

...a decent-enough actioner that generally gets the job done.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Jul 1, 2022
[A] generic point-to-point action movie, one whose plot mechanics make less and less sense as we proceed and whose action sequences – ostensibly the reason we’re here in the first place – prove to be largely bland and uninteresting.

Netflix seriously needs to reconsider how they invest their resources and pick better projects to finance.

Even if you are looking for a film that you can turn on and let your brain fall apart, you could do so much better than Interceptor. From the truly bad acting to the inane dialogue, this movie has nothing going for it outside of the action sequences.

We usually see a male actor in action movies like this one. So it’s refreshing to watch Elsa Pataky bring Captain Collins to life on screen.

“Interceptor” is about putting on a show, and Pataky has the muscular charisma to carry it.
| Original Score: B- | Jun 16, 2022
Took a little time to realize this wasn’t a parody of any kind and was just the sort of low-rent, poorly-acted dumb attempts to recreate a cinematic experience in a straight-to-video market.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Jun 15, 2022
This suspenseful action film gets bogged down by some convoluted character motives, but the formula works, and Pataky is credible as a Die Hard-style hero.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jun 15, 2022
A Die Hard clone set inside a top-secret military installation that’s the last line of defense against Russian nuclear aggression, high-octane actioner Interceptor is a waste of time.
| Original Score: 1/4 | Jun 11, 2022
There’s some okay-ish fight choreography, some commendably creative kills, and scattered nuggets of so-bad-it’s-good cheese. Unfortunately, the visual storytelling throughout is overwhelmingly bland and uninspired.
| Jun 10, 2022
Perhaps one can forgive budget CGI and clunky clichéd dialogue in a movie where Elsa Pataky stabs a man in the eye with a gun.

Pataky sems to be channeling her inner Steven Seagal throughout the entire movie. [Full review in Spanish]

There are some parts of Interceptor that are entertaining to watch, and those looking for a quick, harmless action romp can do far worse.
| Jun 6, 2022
It's Die Hard in the Pacific Ocean with just about every action-movie cliché you can think of.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jun 6, 2022
Interceptor is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad movie. It’s as dull as watching Eisteddfod while sober and as nuanced as a pantomime populated with ex-Neighbours stars.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Jun 6, 2022
A perfectly ludicrously fun action movie. It’s not the type to stick with you long term, but for the ride it gets the job done of providing some engaging fight scenes, snappy dialogue and a hero to cheer on in clearing off all the bad guys.
| Original Score: 7/10 | Jun 6, 2022
Director Matthew Reilly devises a taunt high-wire act through routine action movie machinations.
