Jawbreaker Reviews
Such a great movie. Hilarious quotable moments. There were times where even with a 90 minute run time, it seemed a bit long but those times didn't last forever. It picked right up and ran! "Eat sh*t" *blows kisses*
I thought this was written better than Planet Terror. I wish movies were this good these days.
Before Mean Girls, this was THE girlhood movie; not just because the girls are in hot-mess, but due to the reason that this film is also a hot-mess of its own. Changing the narrator half way through the movie, introducing a attention grabbing characters but not doing anything with them, and completely dismissing the law to give a “ the bad guy was defeated at the end” ending- this movie had so much potential but at the end it became a jumbled mess.
Complex female characters, fun, looks amazing, lush soundtrack
Omg just like Smurfs 2, this movie needs 14% tomatometer and 56% audience score
Overall not quite on the same level as other teen cult classics. Cinematography felt too much like a 온라인카지노추천 movie, despite the good customes and all the 90s style. But Rose McGowan is at the top of her game here and rules this movie. Humor is very dark sometimes, if you're up for that, the movie is definitely worth watching.
This movie was alright. The actors did the most they could with such an asinine script. I think this movie was a product of its time. A time where 90s teen movies flourished, but it just didn't quite hit the mark like its more notable and popular counterparts. Overall I really enjoyed the colour schemes and costume design used in this movie. I just feel that the movie tried to be something it wasn't and it ended up being a hot mess of teenage angst.
The gay child I used to be loves this film, the adult that I am now does too.
This was an example of a movie where the initial premise was intriguing, but by the end it felt like nothing had really been done with it. Similar "knows about murder, can't tell" plots have been done to death in 온라인카지노추천 shows & older movies, the only real twist here being the high school setting. The notion that one of the girls would really help cover up a murder came off as unbearably contrived and the detective was so ineffective that it didn't feel realistic. I did like Rose's & Gayheart's performances though, and seeing Dexter's wife as a young lady was interesting.
Very underrated 90s dark comedy! This is genuinely one of the best films I've ever seen. It's fun, the storyline is good, the acting was good, and the overall vibe was bright candy colored film with dark humor and plot. This film is like a crossover of Heathers and Mean Girls. Perfect film for any teen film fans.
The drama and comedy mix doesn't always work but the film is quite entertaining.
I love finding movies that I forgot I loved and can appreciate more now that I know about movies. This, in the shortest sense, is a story about highschool girls dealing with a bad situation in the only way they know how, social politics. There's a whole commentary on the sociopathic people we're creating in high schools, but it works as part of the trope. Rose McGowan plays bad bitch like few others, Judy Greer is amazing in her transformative role, Rebecca Gayheart nails the good girl role and the writing is rock solid, creating a fun and humorous air to dealing with a morbid and dramatic situation. The only hole is a deux ex machina, and I hope if they reboot this (and they should) that they write in a good twist instead. Great movie, I look forward to seeing it again.
I don't really have a solid review, but I freaking love this movie; I have since I was a kid, though in hindsight, I shouldn't have been allowed to watch it back then!
Jawbreaker, the directorial debut of Darren Stein, loses energy as it progresses. The first half-hour is engrossing, the second half-hour is uneven, and the third half-hour is barely adequate. Along the way, Stein (who also wrote the screenplay) takes some knowing swipes at the culture of high school cliques, and what it means to be popular or unpopular. For some, having a social standing at school is irrelevant, but for others, it's all-important. Everything that Courtney, Julie, and Marcie do, including giving a nerd a makeover and letting her into their inner circle, is designed to protect their status. The actors are all adequate and this is a good high school film in the mold of heathers and mean girls although not as great as either.
Absolutely terrible acting, script, and just overall was badly directed. I could only watch the first 30 minutes before I decided I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than watch this movie.
Maybe it's because I go in to these types of movies with extremely low expectations, but this is yet another one that I don't completely hate! It's definitely a "guilty pleasure" for me! Sometimes a "so bad it's funny" movie, but not all the time, so I'd say that it's only kind of close to being that one of those. I didn't think that this was that awfully made or anything, either, I just think that what it's about, and the way that it's delivered, is the reason why people hate this so much!
