Kate & Leopold Reviews

Manners, courtesy, chivalry, decorum, and honesty aren’t distant arcane archetypes. They are timeless traits that should never become passé, viewed as square, antiquated, socially scolded, or out of favor.

one of these dreamy Hollywood confections that never touches any kind of identifiable reality for a second'

| Original Score: 3/5 | Apr 8, 2022

Kate & Leopold may have some plot holes but Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman are able to leave us entertained.

| Feb 6, 2022

Kate & Leopold kicks off with an engrossing stretch detailing Jackman's character's exploits in the past and his initial discovery of Liev Schreiber's time-traveler.

| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Nov 6, 2020

It's rare to come across a time travel tale as listless as this one.

| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Dec 18, 2019

Though watchable, Kate & Leopold is a definite disappointment, particularly to anyone looking for the next When Harry Met Sally, or even the next French Kiss.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Oct 31, 2018

Nearly the only big-name romantic comedy to come out this year, Kate & Leopold is the perfect date movie this Christmas and the perfect way to escape from the stress of everyday life.

| Original Score: 3.5/4 | Oct 31, 2018

Kate & Leopold celebrates all things good: manners, chivalry, courtship, finely prepared food, carefully chosen flowers, integrity.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Oct 31, 2018

Kate and Leopold may occasionally miss the newspapers, but it has the heart and soul of a good-natured champion.

| Oct 31, 2018

Some nice moments but overall not a total success.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 24, 2010

A time-travel romantic comedy whose best elements -- Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman -- overcome distracting plot holes, loose threads and assorted contrivances to make for a mostly charming and diverting tale.

Full Review | Sep 26, 2008

Surprisingly effective romantic comedy with Hugh Jackman at his most charming and Meg Ryan proving yet again why she has become the watermark against which all other female romantic leads are compared.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Dec 27, 2007

Despite a promising premise, Jackman's Golden Globe-nominated performance remains the only tangible reason to see this movie.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Dec 30, 2006

As everyone who's ever sighed over a Disney movie knows, it's awfully hard to resist a good fairy tale -- especially when Prince Charming looks and talks like Hugh Jackman.

| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Nov 9, 2006

Ironically, what jeopardises the transaction is Ryan.

| Jun 24, 2006

Jackman commands Kate and Leopold as no actor has commanded a romantic comedy since Steve Martin in Roxanne.

The two individually likable stars do eventually reach some level of warmth, but by that time the film is nearly over and Kate and Leopold are supposed to be madly in love with each other.

| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Dec 11, 2004

Mesmo sendo um pouco mais longo do que deveria, o filme conta uma historinha simples, mas agradvel - e se beneficia enormemente do carisma de Hugh Jackman como um dos personagens-ttulo.

Kate & Leopold is mostly harmless. Both Jackman and Ryan have a warm, delicate chemistry. Their affair is easily believable as the two delicately dance around love.
