I am not usually an action movie fan but I love this. Samuel L. Jackson is the highlight of this film. "I'm always frank and earnest with women. In New York I'm Frank... and Chicago I'm Ernest."

It’s a little dated, almost 30 years later, but I love it just as much as I did in 1996. These two were perfectly pair for this non-stop action, roller-coaster ride of a movie.

I enjoyed this when I first saw it, now it is a strange time capsule of the strengths and flaws of the period’s action films.

Despite a couple of top-notch action sequences, the story is too far-fetched and structurally flawed. Davis and Jackson add a fun flare though.

Absolute banger of a Female Led Christmas Action movie!

This movie is stupidly bad. The plot, the script, the overkill... I kept falling asleep only to keep waking up, thinking I had been dreaming about watching a stupidly bad movie. I can't believe it got so many good reviews. That borders on tragic. God have mercy on us.

Honestly this movie felt all over the place. Like they couldn’t commit to showing one thing at a time, and instead tried to be as ambitious as possible. It’s unfortunate this movie didn’t click with me, because the on screen chemistry was actually awesome. I feel this movie could have been a lot more interesting if she was switching between Samantha and Charlene the whole time. Watching them contradict each others emotions and slowly come to a resolution throughout the movie would have been a very interesting conflict. I also think Sam L. J was the best performance in the movie. But it’s still so damn close between Geena and Sam, they should have done more stuff together (with better scripts of course). Maybe I’ll rewatch this someday and find that I’ve changed my mind. For now it’s a 2.5/5 stars from me.

I always thought “True Lies” could never be dethroned as the greatest action-comedy ever. Well, this one came close! Wildly entertaining and full of twists, this popcorn flick is loads of fun, adrenaline, big laughs, and suspense.

Saw this when it first came out and watched it for the 4th or 5th time tonight. Still love it. I'm not a fan of action movies but Davis and Jackson have a ball and it's a great combo of gags and violence. Never takes itself too seriously. What's there not to like?

Much like the lead character in The Long Kiss Goodnight, this movie constantly forgets what it is. I almost got whiplash from the tonal shifts, not to mention the choppy editing and leaps in logic. The action scenes and dramatic moments are laughable, whereas the comedy is not. I was shocked by how ridiculous some of the moments are. I think both Geena Davis & Samuel L. Jackson are good actors, but you wouldn't know it from watching this. Although compared to the rest of the cast, they do all right. I was curious as to what this story was about, but now I happily bid goodbye to The Long Kiss Goodnight.

In this movie there is a much better movie. It just goes on and on . Cut out 30 minutes and it is improved greatly. Gina Davis can be charming but and in the fight scenes she is not convincing. Some if the dialogue is pretty poor.

Hard to imagine a more stupid movie. Wow. So bad.

Largely dismissed by critics and audiences upon its initial release, this movie seems to have developed a cult following over the last decade or so - and I couldn't be happier. This is one of the most purely enjoyable action movies I've ever seen, and I think it's practically perfect. It doesn't take itself too seriously, it doesn't pretend to be more than what it is and it has a sense of humor about itself unlike anything else I can remember seeing. It's the ideal popcorn movie, and I will never understand why it hasn't garnered the true respect it deserves. Davis is a ridiculously underrated actress, and you can tell she's having the time of her life here. She and Jackson make the ultimate odd couple dream team and their interactions are just wonderful. It also contains a remarkably strong supporting cast, including Craig Bierko as a truly ominous villain. The action scenes are so beyond the realm of credibility that they become almost surreal - and gloriously so. This is one of those movies where I gladly leave logic outside the door and just revel in the fun and magic of the movie making. It's a film I keep handy when I'm having a bad day or just need a couple hours of mindless adventure. And that deserves a lot more respect than which I feel it's given. Move over, Dirty Harry, I think you've met your match.

It was pretty entertaining with a few highly unlikely incidents and a few downright dumb incidents. I'd never want to watch it again.

Renny Harlin had a pretty good run in the 90`s, okay, his pirate movie was not the best decision but besides that...Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger, Deep Blue Sea and....The Long Kiss Goodnight. Samuel Jackson and and Gene Davies are a great team, Craig Bierko, David Morse and Brian Cox are making an excellent supporting cast. A funny wild movie, there is enough story, to keep it together, but really...it doesn't matter. Its all about entertainment and The Long Kiss Goodnight is entertaining as hell :)
