Mack & Rita Reviews
Ten minutes was all I could bear of this completely laugh-free "comedy" - life's too short to waste your time on this awful mess...
I was very excited to watch this movie, then E. Laila’s acting instantly knocked expectations down quite a few rungs… Diane’s shrieking and over the top reactions got to be grating… it ramped up in Palm Springs and went nowhere from there. Did they try to redo ‘13 Going on 30’ somehow??? They failed epically!! I watched it in Apple+ and I even regret the $5.99 I paid for it.
I thought I was going to love it. Do not waste your time on Mack & Rita. Unbelievably bad acting/plot. I felt embarrassed for DK.
As I near my half-century mark in a couple months, I can probably count on two hands the number of so-called comedies that were as unfunny and devoid of a single frame of pleasure as this truly BAD movie. And I mean BAAADDDD. And it truly breaks my heart that an actress of Keaton's stature, an Oscar winning and AFI Lifetime Achievement Award winner, is reduced to this nonsense. Perhaps that partially explains my anger toward this movie. Keaton is grating and unfunny - others in the cast don't fare so well. Watching this legend get high on mushrooms, catch her wig on fire, and banter about like a brainless nincompoop borders on the obscene. I've had more fun at the DMV, and it took every ounce of self-control not to turn this off and put on something more appealing - like the infomercial for Trump's NFT trading cards. Let's pray that this is the bottom of the barrel for all involved - I can't imagine anything much worse.
At the beginning Mack is texting an she misspelled wait by typing weight. The movie is redundant and predictable.
I do like Diane Keaton as she is an incredible actress, but this story is so idiotic that I could only fast-forward through most of the movie especially as Elizabeth Lail is, though cute, a pretty lousy actress. The only light moment of this bulls.. is the short appearance of Simon Rex. What a waste of resources to produce such a crappy movie. 2/10 points..
The best part of the movie is seeing Diane Keaton's stunning wardrobe. The rest was hackneyed and far-fetched and poorly directed. Diane Keaton is a seasoned actor but she seems flustered and at a loss in this. It was actually hard to watch. Skip it unless you're desperate.
Don't bother. Diane Keaton, what were you thinking? Even the dialogue in this movie is phony. Also, low production values.
This one should win all the Razzy Awards. Painful to watch... I love Diane Keaton, but even her can't save this mess. When she regresses I was so happy I didn't have to hear her screeching or watch her fashion show. How sad.
Diane Keaton is my most favorite comedic actress. I was so excited to see this on Hulu. I couldn't get past the 1st 30 min - I was SO BORED. I just bailed. I wish her name had never been tied to this movie.
Wow, worst move. I'm embarrassed for Diane Keaton.
Lame, terrible acting, script, costume, set, production, dialogue...
Silly, should have waited to see it at home for free. I've seen more entertaining movies on the Hallmark channel
Terrible! I’m a big Diane Keaton fan and in this movie, she sunk to an all time low. She looks terrible in long hair and she obviously didn’t mind being called old in this movie. I don’t how she could allow that when she was one of the producers of the movie. A really bad version of Freaky Friday! Save your money.
I was embarrassed for Diane Keaton. seeing her in outfits from her past that was so long ago and thinking see was young enough for a romantic interlude with a younger man that could have easily been her grandson. Too bad. It must have been a laughing stock for her elderly friends. My spouse thought the same !
The premise was mildly amusing, but that for me translated to a pleasant way to be cool on a 100+ day here in California! If you enjoy Diane Keaton, you'll like it pretty much because it's all her....
The most boring movie I've ever seen. The dialogue was embarrassingly bland. We couldn't wait for the movie to end, but we stayed because we wanted to see how this ridiculousness was resolved. Spoiler alert: without any excitement or explanation of the phenomenon. Diane Keaton embarrassed herself with this trite piece of garbage, I went to see it because she was the star she and I should have both stayed home.
This awful ´Freaky Friday´ retread falls flat from minute one all the way towards its conclusion, but having in between some of the unfunniest comedy of the year, mostly due to Diane Keaton just acting like a fool. One of this years absolute low-points !
Loved the all-star cast. Good acting, and script. Unfortunately, all too predictable. Especially if you remember the movie BIG with Tom Hanks.
Definitely not Diane Keaton's best movie. The over-acting was sometimes a bit too much and the story was just meh.
