Missing Link Reviews
It's good fun, with plenty of English humour!
A Beautiful, Inspirational tale about a Sasquatch who wants to fit in and his journey to find his kind, packed with comedy and action. In my books, this is another Laika win.
Liaka Studios is one of the best animation studios working in the game today. Stuff like "Coraline", "Kubo and the Two Strings" and "ParaNorman" are some of the best animated films around. They produce the most beautiful stop motion animation of all time. "Missing Link" continues their tradition of charming characters and beautiful visuals but falls short when it comes to its story. This belongs with "Box Trolls" as far as some of Liaka's lesser material. The story follows a sophisticated Bigfoot who calls himself Mr. Link, played by Zach Galifianakis. He is paired up with an adventurer named Sir Lionel Frost voiced by Hugh Jackman. A lot of the movie's heart and a good portion of its humor comes from the back and forth between Link and Frost. The characters are charming, memorable and brough to life well through the stellar animation and voice cast. On the downside, the story goes off a cliff as it approaches the final act. The ending of the adventure suffers from a lackluster villain and an underwhelming climax. I'm fine with the theme the finale presents, I just think it is presented in a clumsy manner. The movie may be not be Shangri-La, but it is still a pretty nice place.
The animation is awesome!
Susan definitivamente es un personaje encantador y con Laika estoy más que fascinado 🫶 Muy buena historia ejecutada de una manera tan impresionante como lo es la técnica de Stop-Motion 🫶
Hugh Jackman voices Sir Lionel Frost, an explorer/hunter who is an amalgam of Indiana Jones and Sherlock Holmes. Frost's goal is to take Mister Link (basically Big Foot) to the Himalayas so he can reconnect with his people. It's a cute movie with many Abbott and Costello like moments.
The show was hilarious 😆.
Decent animation..plot could have been better.. voice acting well done..look for the sequel
Missing Link flew under the radar a bit when it came out in 2019. I'm just now watching it in 2023. It features an excellent voice cast, with Jackman, Galifianakis, and Saldana, among others. It's a concise little film about an explorer who sets off to find a Sasquatch in Washington state. Once he finds him, he's a lot funnier and friendlier than he thought. The two, along with Saldana's character, have to face off against a so-so villain in the end. It's an inoffensive and sometimes adorable picture that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. Once the movie ended, I found the missing link to be missing "something" because it just kind of, happened. It doesn't do much to stand out. The story isn't exactly captivating. But it did entertain me and made me chuckle from time to time.
A fun and beautifully animated movie. One of the more under appreciated family movies of recent years.
The only thing I really enjoyed was the credit's song
Watched on Netflix, a very enjoyable movie. I found it genius how they explained the title of the movie in the film and why it is so important. Good overall.
It's the weakest Laika film. Which means its an absolute masterpiece of animation, at least.
This movie is really witty. Mr. Link is a really loveable personality. Great fun.
It takes a little bit but after like eight minutes the movie starts to pick up and gets really entertaining and really hilarious with lovable characters and amazing stop motion animation this movie is very underrated 9/10
Beautiful to watch in addition to the masterful voice cast. This stop-action film was also very funny. Loved the Eco-friendly and emotional maturity side of it, too!
This is quite an entertaining film. Sure its cheesy and predictable, to an extent, but its amusing (the fact that the villain is called Mr Stank did make me laugh!) and as I say entertaining as well, for a family film. It features a new range of quirky Aardman characters and has a bit of a feel of a mix of perhaps Around the World in 80 Days and Pixars Up maybe? not as good but certainly a watchable, um, watch. I also found myself thinking of the Shanghai films starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson as well, with the scenes set on a train in the wild West and in Asia. The main character is one that will likely appeal to most children. I'd recommend this film to fans of Aardman studio films and people looking for family friendly films.
Very enjoyable, well made, good jokes. I'll be waiting for the second act for sure.
