Paint Reviews
The whole film has this pity party feel to it that’s playing to an audience of one. Who can say who that one really is?

It's listless, plodding and unfocused, with only the merest whiff of a plot.

With an over-the-top blond Afro hairdo and a voice that rarely rose above a whisper, Ross was to painting what Fred Rogers was to children’s 온라인카지노추천: innocuous, unthreatening, and thoroughly predictable (in a comfort food sort of way).

The not-Bob Ross shtick works for a little while as a weird curiosity thanks to Owen Wilson's commitment to the bit, but in trying to take it to a psychological and romantic conclusion all interest in the one stretched joke is lost.

“Paint” is more amusing than laugh-out-loud funny.

A PBS Pledge drive is more entertaining.

The satire in writer-director Brit McAdams’ comedy “Paint” is as whisper-soft as a babbling brook and as dry as the needles on a pine tree — but it has its charms for those who latch onto its odd groove.

We pity Carl (Wilson), and since he doesn’t have the immediate wherewithal or spirited inertia to improve his current standing, most of the 96-minute runtime follows his aimless and unfunny journey. I love the hair though! Totally jealous.

You’ll find plenty of happy trees here, you’ll just need to brush away all the debris around them.

It doesn’t have the wit of a Wes Anderson film and it lacks the zaniness of a Farrelly Brothers comedy, so its weak point is McAdams’s script which has trouble balancing the laughs with its gloomy storyline.

Paint dries quickly... It's a glib way of describing a movie about art, but it's also perfectly suited for a movie that makes fun of art instructor Bob Ross.

Not unlike the Tim Burton film about the Keanes, Big Eyes, this movie has a great conceptual opportunity to wring laughs from kitsch art, yet it’s too nice to do so, and too dull-edged to locate any other real point.

This is a slow go. Even with such a good cast, the comedy is too subtle and one dimensional. Wilson and Watkins are capable of better comedy which could have created a more satisfying canvas built on better brush strokes

If there were more jokes, Paint’s many unexamined issues might be overlooked. As it stands, the final product is desperately in need of some serious touch-ups.

If you grew up a Bob Ross fan, you'll enter intrigued to watch Owen Wilson's "Paint," only to be disappointed that the film isn't about Ross at all but rather the fictional (and unlikable) figure Carl Nargle, borderline making fun of the man.

Wilson is often hilarious in the film – truly, no one else could take on this role – but 'Paint' creates a three-dimensional character in Carl and lovingly puts him through some very thoughtful paces.

Because there's truth at the heart of this caricature, there's also great comic potential -- potential that, for the most part, remains unexploited.

I need to watch an episode or two of the Joy of Painting just to get the bad taste of “Paint” out of my mouth.

It would be interesting to see what 'Paint' could be if Wilson didn't get so locked into the (not so discreet) satirization of a famous figure.

The cast features talented comedic actors -- including Wilson, Root, Michaela Watkins, and Wendi McLendon-Covey -- and they get laughs, but it's always the same joke.
