Riders of Justice Reviews
Anders Thomas Jensen wrote and directed the Danish comedy thriller. Starring Mads Mikkelsen and more. The film follows a soldier (Mads Mikkelsen) with occupying troops in Afghanistan whose wife is murdered in a train accident that the survivor, who gave up his seat to the victim, believes was a murder. tracks the widower down with his computer guru buddies in order to hack into data and find the identify of the suspicious man who left the train earlier. The film combines family drama, thrills, comedy, and action, with the dramatic transformation of strangers into a family. A good entertainer.
Just watched this excellent movie which combines tragedy with violence and humour. Tarantinoesque? Made Mikkelson is brilliant as always. His relationship with his daughter is complex and poignant.
Such a great film! So funny, so straightforward. The end is a bit wierd, that’s way it won’t get five stars.
A truly rare gem. Complex, funny, tragic, violent, and sweet. A marvel. Don't try to compare this work with any other. Weird, strange, goofy, crazy script. Brilliant.
Critics only liked it because it is foreign and dubbed. They obviously didn't understand it. Gratuitous excessive graphic violence. Not funny. Since when does a "comedy" have so much violence and gore? Spoiler alert: the reason for the revenge turned out to be false so the whole premise for the movie is wrong. The supporting cast is terrible. Hugely overrated. Mads is ok.
A truly memorable and entertaining character based action thriller. Stellar performances across the board, with Mads Mikkelsen ace-ing the lead. Strong screenplay and an excellent visual approach to the material. High recommend.
An action film that takes a fairly standard premise and then runs with it to some really surprising places. By the end you're more moved than thrilled.
I loved this movie. Can't think of any cons about it at all, so for now I'm giving it a 5-star. This was a great blend of action, comedy, and drama - touching on serious issues such as loss and the difficulty in dealing with it, childhood trauma/abuse, and self acceptance. The comedy helped to counter the dark themes and struck a perfect balance, not becoming goofy or slapsticky. Mads Mikkelsen is growing on me as an actor. Wish this had come out on the big screen in my area. Video review: youtu.be/wo-qngejiKg
Profound in the good, Shakespeare way. A lot of action with the philosophy and pathos intertwined. Sensitive treatment by competent actors. You get to think and feel, while your inner grounding is also satisfied.
so refreshing, not your typical predictable revenge movie but nice heart warming, plenty of humor and great acting!
What a load of sh*te. I watched this dross thinking its got to get better - relized we were half way through and it was still shi*e. Thank god I didn`t pay to watch this drivel.
Funny action movie with Mads Mikkelsen searching for justice. A lot of fun and action.
What an amazing film!! Without giving away any spoilers you have to watch this film it is nothing like what you expect. Wonderful script and stunning performances. I will be watching this again!
It's like an even darker and quirkier Blinkende Lygter for current times. Pretty good.
Visceral and intelligent film with great performances.
One of the most beautiful, poignant, violent, and funny films I've ever seen. Incredible writing, directing and acting. Wow! I always see what's coming and this film engrosses you to a point that you don't zoom out. It's a richly layered film expertly executed.
Amazing movie, hard to compare to anything else. Definitely full of unexpected plot twists.
Bi-polar with the star being too stoic & the others too manic. The director wanted to create dynamics but it ended up being annoying.
Riders Of Justice is an exciting adventure elevated by the remarkably human moments between the action. I expected it to be exceptional because an Anders Thomas Jensen film starring Mads Mikkelsen, Nikolaj Kaas, Lars Brygmann, and Nicolas Bro is incapable of being anything less. (Andrea was a new face for me as I am still discovering the magic of Danish cinema, but I am eager to dive into the rest of her other work based on her compelling performance.) What I didn't anticipate was it immediately securing a position as one of my favorite films of all time. The script, the cast, the energy, the tears, and the laughs all amount to a skillfully executed, well-paced masterpiece with a TON of heart. It is one of the most surprisingly touching and impressively engaging movies to release in years, expertly disguised as a revenge thriller. Trust me on this, you don't want to miss out on the lifelong impact this two-hour joyride offers.
Wow. I don't know why this hit me so hard, the story just really clicked with me for some reason, the statistics, accident, chain of events, consequences, centillions of possibilities. This felt like a genuine story that engaged me, it's really not what I was expecting, I went into this thinking Mads Mikkelsen ‘John Wick' which I would have been happy to sit through, but this was so much more. Grief, the stages of grief, how certain types of people can or can't handle certain things, finding peace in revenge, this movie just seemed to be so real in parts. The story here is amazing and THAT moment hit like a truck for me. The action was also incredible, while sparse, again it just hit all the right marks, I think it could be compared to John Wick style of action but I think hits harder because of how it's used. The relationships in the film feel well built and developed, father daughter, ‘rag tag crew', even all of the side characters had their moments. Mikkelsen delivers an incredible performance. Another that stood out for me was Nikolaj Lie Kaas who plays Otto, the way he delivers some of the monologues was truely special. The cinematography and camera work was also really really great in certain places. All around quite an incredible film.
